We almost always stay here when we go to San Francisco every few months to visit our daughter. It’s very convenient to Union Square and almost always get in with an early arrival.
Please fix elevator!
I stayed at the Handlery ~ 10 years ago and it was one of my favorite hotels. I was excited to return here this year. It was just uncomfortable. The room was ridiculously warm and there is no AC. I can open the windows but there is no screen and there are birds flying around. The bed was rickety. The shower was impossible to use without getting water everywhere. On the 7th floor the water pressure was low and at a trickle. Overall it was just a really uncomfortable stay. They are doing some sort of construction so there is a tarp up in the hallway that rustles is annoying, and the service carts are left in the middle of the hallway for you to navigate around. It just seemed overall in a state of disarray and dingy-ness that was not what I was expecting, especially for the price.
Hotel needs to fix the elevator that goes up to the better rooms that people pay more money for. we’re in our 70s and had to take our suitcases 2 flights of steps.

Lovely staff, super helpful. The rooms are very well designed, they have a mini fridge, bath robes, hairdryer and lots of mirrors. Loved the sauna and the heated pool. Can’t wait to stay there again.
Courteous staff, clean rooms, lots of things to do in the area, though didn't always feel safe, and the air quality/ventilation in the room was terrible, especially around the beds. Woke up coughing every morning, which stopped as soon as we left the room.
Great location with very nice and helpful staff. Shopping, restaurants, bars all very close.

This property had adequate amenities, was clean, and very convenient. The location was very good and walkable to many places we wanted to see.
