When we arrived the floors had dog hair and dog food on them. The beds had hair, food and stains. Basement door wired shut. Window broken. Curtains shredded. Smoke alarm chirping. Dirty door frames. Patched wall. Some furniture in poor condition. Host responded after an hour. Offered a different house for the night, saying the cleaners were new. We were 8 adults and 3 children. We couldn’t move the next day because of the wedding we were in town to attend. Host said she would go right away to the property and check it out. She also said she would give us a refund. This was on the phone and is not written. Then she texted me back and said the Cleaner sent her a video and it was all clean that we had set up the pictures and we’re trying to scam her. Her words: what you see is what you get. She said take it up with VRBO. VRBO says the money has already been distributed, there’s nothing they can do, and they gave us 120 credit toward a future booking with them; it was a real blight on an otherwise wonderful weekend. I had read warnings that VRBO did not back the customers very well and that there were hosts who set up scams like this. I guess I got caught. Don’t book this property.
