IF THERE IS A SINGLE REVIEW THAT YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT THE BETHLEHEM HOTEL, THIS IS IT!!! I am a business traveler that travels approximately 48 weeks per year. As such, I have encountered some of the best hotels and certainly some of the worst hotels throughout the country. Customer service can be the key component to the hotel experience, regardless of the room, location, price, etc…. The Bethlehem Hotel, by far, exceeds any and ALL levels of customer service imaginable!!! When I checked in to the hotel on my recent stay, I realized that my business dress shirts, which were folded in valet bag, had been lost/dropped while exiting Philadelphia International Airport. Therefore, I was left with the singular shirt that I had been wearing all day since departing Miami International Airport at 6 AM. In other words, I’m sure that my shirt STUNK!! I asked the gentleman at the front desk, Carlos, if there were any shops on Main Street in Bethlehem that sold business dress shirts. He informed me that, unfortunately, there were none. However, he offered to have one of the bellman drive me to a local mall where I could purchase a dress shirt from various department stores for my upcoming meetings. Point number one, he didn’t simply inform me that I could go to the mall myself and get a shirt. He offered the services of the hotel to drive me there to make it more convenient (even though I had a rental vehicle).
Old school hotel kept modern with a good restaurant
Location was great. And the staff was very helpful.
I received a welcome package since I was a return guest. Nice touch.
Historic and beautiful
Absolutely stunning Christmas decorations. Beautiful and friendly environment. Staff was exceptional and accommodating. Highly recommend.
Second-time guest, which means our first visit five years ago was a good one. Two-night stay this time. Love Keurig coffee/tea in the room and comp water bottles. After the first night, we left in the morning and were out all day. COMMENT 1: When we got back around 8 pm. we were shocked to find that the room received zero service--old towels on tub, no new towels or bed sheets, no new coffee/water bottles, etc. When I called the desk, I was gobsmacked to hear the desk clerk say that I must have requested "no service" when I checked in. Wow. I have experienced the "no new towels" green thing at some places, but who asks for "no service" at all? So much for the customer is always right. They promptly brought up fresh towels and coffee/water. COMMENT 2: "Did you drive here?" asked the desk clerk. "No, I did not. I do not need parking." When we checked out, a $20 charge for parking was on the bill. They fixed that too. So all in all, a nice stay, but compared to our previous stay, not the same. When a place declines in service, I would guess that veteran staff was let go, and poorly trained new staff need more training. We paid for the well-advertised "#2 Historic Hotel" in the country but did get that vibe at all in terms of service and excellence. They made good on our complaints, but who wants to deal with petty annoyances at the best hotel in town? You can coast on the name for just so long. FYI 4 pm is a late check-in, which may indicate a short staff in a large place.
We have been to the Hotel Bethlehem numerous times, both to eat and stay. This past visit found us staying for an extra night due to a snow storm. This hotel is a great place to be stuck - cozy lobby to sit and read, restaurant and bar onsite for good food and drinks. Will definitely be back!
It s history and cleanness was the best. I'll definitely be back again.
It was a treat, on all the categories Hotel B gets the top scores, all ACES!
The charm of a hotel from 1922. The lovely Christmas decorations, the food is amazing. Fun bar. One of my favorite hotels.
This hotel is a beautifully restored jewel from 1922. Bethlehem itself is a surprisingly charming town, and this hotel is perfectly situated on its Main Street.
Old school beautiful!! Loved valet parking and enjoyed brunch. Was a bit loud due to multiple weddings on a Saturday. Great brunch on Sundays. Great walk ability to downtown Bethlehem.
Disappointed that we couldn't get MSNBC on room tv .
My daughter and I love this hotel ... It is a once a year destination. So beautiful. From the crown moldings to the marble and the oh so comfy beds, the attention to detail is awesome and the staff second to none! The Christmas season here is not to be missed!
