This is a large beautiful property, good location and good value. But our room, with two queen beds was small. Armoire for tv took up space that could be used for comfortable reading chair, ottoman and reading lamp. Bathroom and counter small. No refrigerator or microwave although there was room for those. . Heater was efficient but made low noise. Needs upgrade for electronics. Most convenient location to charge phones and tablets on bathroom counter. Cigarette burns on bathroom counter, scratches on wood furniture. No smell of smoking in room. Room was clean and beds and linens comfortable. Property is not handicap friendly. Large and spread out. multiple buildings with two stories. All rooms face outside. We asked for a 1st floor room where we could park directly in front of room. Clerk was accommodating and gave us several choices. We chose a room in back of property. There were no stairs or ramps to walk around end of building to courtyard with pool. It was too cold for pool but it would have been nice to walk to breakfast across courtyard. Pool is in sunken area with stairs. I saw no ramps in pool area. We packed the car, drove around to front and came through the lobby for breakfast. Breakfast was below average for complimentary breakfast at chain hotel. Limited selection.
great location, clean, accommodating, manager Mike made our stay perfect. there was a common area that made our gathering to share photos and memories easy. there are restaurants within walking distance as well as any other shopping one might want. the pool and patio area are lovely. I would love to return when weather allowed for using this space.
My experience at the Magnuson Grand was unique because it is so rare to discover the attitude of hospitality that was displayed by each person I encountered when booking my reservation and during my stay. Rare among established national brands but rarer among local brands such as this hotel. I was introduced to that spirit when making my reservation with Britny. Her professionalism and courtesy was above my expectations. Something as simple as saying, “It was my pleasure”, rolls out the red carpet for guests before they arrive and she rolled it out beautifully. After a four-and-a-half hour drive from Lafayette, Andree greeted me with a broad smile and genuine “Welcome” assuring me that she was there for anything I might need to make my stay enjoyable. Sunday night, after returning to my room, I discovered that my television could not tune in to Channel 12 so I could watch the World Series. I called the front desk and Andree immediately sent over Mike, the manager, to reset the signal. He was so nice and accommodating. Knowing I was there for a family funeral, he said he was sorry for my loss, and told me to check out as late as I needed to the next day. He also spoke with pride about the full breakfast available in the morning. I took him up on it and have to say that the staff in the dining room was as courteous and accommodating as everyone else on the property. As a seasoned traveler, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tyler. I will return.
I travel quite a bit for work, and have stayed at many hotels across this great nation. I can't say enough about the Magnuson Grand in Tyler, Tx. I had a chance to meet the owners while I was there, and you'll never meet any nicer folks. Kevin and his wife Susan are really passionate about providing a safe and comfortable hotel experience. The grounds are lovely (I was there in October), and the rooms were nicely decorated. Mike, the manager, and his staff are amazing!! From the moment your greeted at the desk to checkout, they truly go out of their way to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience. I will definitely stay here again!! Thank you all!! - Dan
Can’t say enough about how helpful and accommodating Mike and his staff were for my wedding. We had such a great experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits the area. We came down from dallas and could have never gotten the personalization up here that we did down in Tyler. Y’all were great thank you!!
We were here for my daughter's wedding and can't thank Mike and his staff enough!!! They went out of their way to make our stay perfect! The rooms were clean with no problems! My daughter got married in the evening and Mike was kind enough to keep the hotel bar open for our guests until 1 am. I can't thank them enough for bending over backwards to see that everyone was comfortable and had a great time! Will definitely go back and hope all of you will check it out!!
Pros: very lovely and friendly front desk staff. Accommodating and helpful. Great breakfast. Lovely pool. Cons: Room had a terrible odor. Bathroom in poor shape. Went to use toilet paper and the holder came out of the wall! Entertainment center where the tv was located has numerous splits and cracks in the wood. Came here for a family wedding. Went to the bar for a drink after the wedding. I ordered a club soda and cranberry juice. I received the drink in a red solo cup. It was filled only half way and was charged $9.00!!! Really!?! For a minute I thought I was in New York City. Outrageous. Enough ranting. Glad my family and I only stayed one night 😩
We met some other family members for a family outing before school starts. We had a blast in the pool and we all enjoyed our breakfast. Mike, the manager made us feel welcome and the owners were on site making us feel like family. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We will be back!
Stayed here last night; didn't get in town until midnight and collapsed into bed. Around 1AM, noticed a large mold stain on the sheets. Peeled them back to find a LARGE mold growth on the mattress that had grown up through the two layers of sheets as well. How long have these sheets not been changed??? This was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a hotel. Since it was the middle of the night, I just put a towel over it and attempted to sleep, but hardly did. Management was kind when I addressed it this morning, but this should never happen in a hotel. Please stay far away from this place for your own HEALTH.
Great place to stay. They have the best pool area I have experienced in a hotel of this type. The room was a little small but very clean and comfortable. Very reasonably priced. Planning on a return trip as a getaway.
