I have had pretty good luck booking through choicehotels.com but really struck out on this place. Musty smelling, partially updated...no frills, indeed. Pretty disappointed and sorry to be stuck. :( we travel with a small dog and are a little bit limited as far as where we can stay.
We stayed here on our way home after evacuating for Hurricane Irma. The room was clean, partially remodeled and price was reasonable. Room for improvement in the bathroom area remodel. Don't arrive late (8:00 a.m.) for breakfast or be sure to ask for fresh food. Short walk/drive to Waffle House and other restaurants.
Horrible wifi. They might as not even offer wifi its weak at best. Everything else was great. Room was clean and looked recently 're modeled. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Large flat screen TV , fridge and microwave in room
This hotel has gotten mixed reviews but I don't think unsatisfied persons are giving it a chance. We have had to travel a lot for a while and we know. The extra friendly check in person assured us if we had a problem they would attend to it. We did and they did. We ended up with so comfortable a situation, we extended our stay. The room was new and great, the linens new and great, the tv and internet great, Everything. Haven't had breakfast yet because I was so pleased I wanted to review it now. The set-up looks fine. Really cannot say enough about this place. It's quiet and the staff just can't do enough for ya.
This is an old hotel and needs renovation. The rooms were clean, but that is about the only good thing. When we checked in, the staff gave us a room where they were resurfacing the parking lot. The smell was horrible! We immediately asked for a room change. They acted like they did not know this was happening and acted like a room change was problematic. This hotel was not at all full! Wifi disconnected a lot. Would not recommend staying here unless absolutely necessary.
Old and disgusting. This was not a QUALITY place to stay. The walls are thin and can hear every word in the room next door through the walls. The floor seemed to be alive with crawling bugs. Pillows smelled horrible. I was afraid to eat anything off their breakfast bar after I watched the I staff put the food out.
Rooms smelled very much of chemicals- wonder if recently fumigated? Moved rooms to find less odor- staff was very helpful. But windows don't open and doors don't seal well- hard to air out. Is area to air dogs, but I felt less than secure. Breakfast minimal. Rooms passably clean, just can't get over odors.
I'm trying to be as fair as possible evaluating this hotel. I booked this through a travel service and had to stay under a preset rate. I've been here a week and leave today. My first observation when I arrived to check in was negative. This is a vintage 50 - 60's hotel that has slowly deteriorated over time. Its really showing its age and needs a major overhaul or a complete rebuild from top to bottom. The staff was great during my stay. My room has a musty old smell that I've become accustomed too. The room, beds and bathroom were clean. The window curtains are badly wrinkled and don't fit properly to block out light. Their wifi works but does require continuous reconnects when you get disconnected. I didn't use room cleaning service so I can't comment. I did kill 2 cockroaches that made their last appearance crawling on the wall. Would I select this property again? In its current condition probably not. I'm not going to advise you not to stay here. We all see things differently.
I have been a diamond or platinum choice member for over ten years so I have seen great and terrible I would say this property is well below average but could be above to above if they corrected maintenance issues and had a better cleaning staff. First the positives: I was upgraded to a suite for an extra 5 dollars basically two rooms they turned into one. 2 TVs two full baths one room with a sofa fridge, and microwave, one with a bed. This is an old property that they have tried to renovate. All furniture is modern and has granite tops along with the bath vanities. New paint and carpet, a lot of space but the regular rooms are probably normal size. Good wifi and water pressure. Everything in the rooms seemed typical choice clean. BUT now the bad the bathrooms were not clean. Dried urine on the lid of the bedroom toilet and the other bath had a leak from bath above causing that bath to be unusable. If I had found that at night and not the morning I would have had them move me. Depending on leak source could be a health hazard as well as being disgusting Also I have a real problem when you spend a lot of money TVs, paint and carpet and can't change the bedding. They are still using the old gold bedspreads that choice used 10 years ago. Over all I not sure if I will come back because of the leak but if they correct those issues and their cleaning staff did a better job and the got new bedding it could be a good value.
Two problems. The rate on the internet was lower than the actual rate charged by about $10. The girl at the front desk didn't know why. And there was a charge on the bill called "Hotel Fee". I guess this is a charge for the privilege of staying at this hotel. I did not see the charge until I got home. I have stayed here in the past and have always enjoyed my experience.
