Upon entering the room, the bathroom smelled strongly of urine. Several people at the front desk were particularly rude about addressing the problem and not really helpful...suggesting that we call housekeeping rather than helping us solve the problem. Rooms was average at best...booked a suite on orbitz for three people but there was only one king bed. Had to order a roll away. Fine hotel but certainly not even close to the standard that I would expect from a five star hotel.

In particular, I absolutely loved the Bellmen!! They were most helpful and just lovely!! This morning, especially, they saved us from getting into the wrong Uber!!The Uber driver was inattentive, so much so, that we would have ended up in Las Vegas, instead of the SanFran airport!! Thank you so!!

What a wonderful stay! The staff had every attention to detail and was available a moment’s notice for guidance or to provide recommendations and set you up for a great time in San Francisco. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay – the property is charming and historical . Appearance is historically preserved but functions well as a modern hotel. We loved it – the restaurant was wonderful, we walked the neighborhood and enjoyed the proximity of so many nearby sites. Can’t wait to come back!

The property is pretty outdated. Has no real amenities. Stayed in a suite to ensure that we had room for four people and the sofa bed squeaked and was very uncomfortable ended up having to throw the mattress on the floor. For it being at red, it definitely did not carry the brand cachet.

The staff go above and beyond the call of duty for guests of the hotel. It's perfectly located and in walking distance of Chinatown, North Beach and even the wharf. One notable stand out is how amazingly spacious the rooms with two queen beds are, which provide the perfect backdrop for a girl's or family getaway. The giant tub in the beautifully appointed bathroom did not disappoint either. Also, it's refreshing to have an abundantly stocked fluffy fresh towel collection, along with tea and coffee maker, so it really felt like home.
