The hotel is updated and the restaurant attached is really cool. The patio for the restaurant is by the pool; I wish I knew the patio was open until midnight - it was too noisy to sleep. I suggest using the earplugs they provide (in the nightstand) if you go to sleep before midnight. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating, I would stay here again.

The DJ was spinning all possible genres and it SO worked. There was dancing where there was supposed to be no dancing.

Had a great time. Awesome cool and hip. That said, do not expect peace and quiet. This is the place you go to party like a rockstar without having to leave the grounds. The pool is happening, the bar is happening, yet it is still family friendly (unless your Mike Pence, in which case - not so much). We will return!

Orlando and Andrea at check in where vary courteous and helpful, check in was a breeze and the parking was free. NICE JOB!

The staff is lovely and the rooms are large. First floor near the pool gets loud but they make an effort to control noise when it gets late. I was able to walk everywhere during the day, but I wouldn't walk around there at night. I would consider this place on my next trip.

Very nice staff and rooms were clean. Only thing is that the hotel is stated as being in civic center but it's actually more in the tenderloin district. It's fine to walk during the day but I wouldn't walk alone at night.

This hotel has free parking and a pool the area around the pool has a lot of room to walk around , the surrounding buildings provide a sound barrier that dampers sf traffic noise the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful in comparison to other corporate hotels I will stay at this hotel again.

This used to be an older motel with a pool in the middle. Now it's been renovated and they've added a bar, a restaurant, decorated the rooms in a kind of retro funky way. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a bit weak: coffee and croissants basically. And I wish they had a hot tub in addition to the pool: that would make it perfect. Still, it's very good, and highly recommended for a rate around $200/night or so.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close everywhere . We like it!

perfect location. front desk very helpful. room is retro and up to date. free parking is a huge bonus.

Free parking. Rooms pretty comfortable, younger crowd atmosphere. Cool bars around the hood, right in the middle of city. Homeless people around, but they don't bother you, some really appreciate any kindness.

Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, our names were mentioned on the board and we were upgraded. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) We had great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience.

Staffs who work in this property are very nice and cheerful. Room condition is good and clean. In the morning I've enjoyed complementary coffee including many kinds of teas and muffin. But outdoor swimming pool is small.

A great local spot for a staycation birthday celebration!

free parking was good, location is good, but some place was dangerous. you can walk to union squre. room is wide & comfort. In the morning, hotel served coffee & muffin. very gooooood hotel.

Very cool hotel. Great staff. VERY LOUD. Don't go here if you're trying to get a good night's sleep. I think they start enforcing quiet hours at midnight though. When we arrived there was a bumpin pool party going on. Come here if you're wanting to rage.

The Phoenix was great fun. Friendly, helpful staff, interesting clientele, a great bar at the hotel. The Tenderloin has its rough edges and isn't for everyone, but the location of the Phoenix is central and convenient, easy walk to BART and other conveyances. This is a nice place to stay.

The room was fine with a nice pool. Loved the overall experience. However the Wifi was charge per session, yes, every time me or my family got on the WiFi it cost 7 dollars. That added up to an extra 60 bucks tacked on to the room charges. I think it would be nicer to provide free WIFI or at least a flat rate. That is the only reason this hotel only got 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 stars. Besides the pay per session for internet the hotel is a gem at the edge of the legendary San Francisco Tenderloin District.

The staff was great friendly and helpful! The restaurant and bar attached to the hotel was very cool! The pool is rad! The room was nice as well, clean, cool feel and easy to access! For San Fran this place is a good deal and a cool stay! Would definitely stay again!

I was in town to see a concert at the Regency Ballroom and I chose the Phoenix because it was a good price and close to the venue. I couldn't have asked for more! I took the train to San Francisco, so I was on foot once I arrived to the bus stop down town. When I found the Phoenix, it was only noon, but the staff found me a clean room and let me check in early. The room was clean, it even smelled clean. The design of the room and wall hangings were very hip to the old rock n roll history of the Phoenix. The bed was so comfortable and had lots of pillows, which is a plus for me! The front staff even called the room about 20 minutes after I arrived to make sure the room was to my liking and that I had everything I needed. I didn't use the pool, but it was beautiful and the sitting areas were amazingly inviting. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I'm in town.
