For me, the USA has some seriously top customer service, which is why when it falls down in standards I will review it. First issue - our room was right next to the entire hotel’s air conditioning/internal fan unit. Complete silence on the balcony, constant racket in the room. By 2:30am, when it was still raging on and despite earplugs I quit trying to sleep & called the front desk to find out what it was - they RESPONDED BRILLIANTLY. During the day I was sorted out a new room. Perfect. No issues, no attitude, no quibbles. Three different people involved in the process, two guys, one lady, all fantastic. Exactly what you should get...and if they couldn’t have done it due to so many bookings then I KNOW they would have been apologetic with a smile and without being dismissive - which I would be completely happy with - because people do what they can but how you present the limitations of a situation matter. Now - the issue. Specifically and naming names: Colette. A server in the main restaurant and cafe. Gave me, my 75 year old mother and other people that I observed some real bad attitude. Now, she did absolutely have some humour and the usual ‘I’ll be right with you’s’ and good followup chat. I am sure she works very, very hard and there are aspects of her life that I do not know behind the scenes BUT that doesn’t erase the huffs, eye rolling, arsey comments, being tutted at and some downright in your face rudeness. I actually checked at one point if this was some strange Northern State humour delivery that was passing me by, but a woman from Pennsylvania who heard how she spoke to my mother and I assured me it was not...and it wasn’t just to me, so I know it wasn’t me that was the issue. Now, despite asking for the room change described above, I am NOT a problem customer. I am smiling, upbeat, positive and I tip well but if I am paying then it is reasonable to expect a certain standard.. I know just how damn hard people work in the service industry and that is what made me so angry here. If I place an order at 3:30 and the kitchen closes at 4, I do not expect attitude about it when there is no last orders sign. Ditto if I ask hold the egg on an order - it is not difficult. Giving an elderly woman face and verbal over her completely straightforward order is damn well not on. So. I could write word for word and point by point exactly how each encounter went, but it would take pages and I simply couldn’t do justice to the delivery - you would need a really good film director to show just how her scale went beyond dumb insolence into active insolence and downright rudeness over basic interactions and completely reasonable questions. If she had been working in some backwoods diner I might have taken it for fascinating local character and got the hell out before the banjos started playing, but no way should this be acceptable at a popular ski resort. In short. Piss poor service from someone who is obviously smart enough to do better.
We recently stayed at the hotel as part of a New England in the Fall coach tour. Unfortunately for us, there were other coach parties staying at the same time and weddings on both nights too. The staff in the restaurants did their best to accommodate us and serve us but they were very overstretched and we waited a very long time for very mediocre, expensive food. Breakfast was a shambles with poor service and cold ‘hot’ drinks. The buffet selection was poor.....and expensive. The rooms were a good size and adequate but not decorated or equipped to a high standard. We had a room that could be interconnected and we were disturbed by wedding guests next door who were shouting and arguing in the early hours. Sadly, whilst the surrounding area was beautiful we didn’t enjoy our stay at the hotel. Probably fine for the skiing season but they can’t cope with coach parties and the level of comfort and service expected.
Stayed here for 2 nights in September 2019 as part of a tour. A ski and spa hotel out in the wilds. Champagne and apples reception for party on arrival. Room spacious, plenty of wardrobe space with proper coat hangers. 2 comfortable beds with a plethora of pillows. 2 suitcase stands, which is unusual, plenty of power points but lighting not very good. Balcony with good views. Bathroom with vanity unit and separate sink. Plenty of toiletries and excellent shower. Very clean. Restaurant food very good, drinks scandalously expensive. Don't drink here ! Staff frienldly, nice ambience and a great setting. Even a table tennis table. Would go back.
Enjoyed our 2 night stay here whilst touring New England. Room was very comfortable, large and we'll equipped. Staff were efficient and friendly. Yes it is an older building but it had character and is a nice change from the generic modern hotels.
We reserved a 1-night stay through Expedia as part of a fall foliage trip. We had to cancel our trip because our dog had multiple seizures 12 days before our scheduled visit to the Jordan Hotel. The hotel would not refund our money, due to their 14 day cancelation policy. All of the other hotels that we booked understood our dilemma and canceled our reservations without penalty.
wonderful resort. we have been having a great time staying there for many years. pool and hot tubs are awsome. All staff were excellent in providing services to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. only dissappointment is the new pay for housekeeping policy. It is overpriced to the point we will consider staying elsewhere on our future trips to the area
If you are looking to relax and enjoy the fresh air this is your place. The Staff is friendly and the facility is very clean. We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit, which consisted of two queen beds and bathroom in one room and the other room had a living/kitchen dining area which had a murphy bed and pull out couch. The resort has a great outdoor pool and two hot tubs. Bethel is only a few miles from the resort. There are some great restaurants, movie theater and a Dunkin Doughnuts. We throughly enjoy our visit.
We stayed at The Jordan for a wedding and loved our stay. We had a studio and it was the perfect size for 2 people. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Collette in the cafe is the best! There are beautiful views from all parts of the hotel. Lots to do for children and adults. I highly recommend this hotel and will return if I ever have the opportunity.
If you go off season, there is nothing to do and you have to drive through poor roads to go anywhere. The lobby of the hotel looks great but our room was in need of repair. The AC is so loud that you cannot have it on and watch TV. Most of the places to visit are in New Hampshire so best stay in this State.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Collette in the cafe is simply the best! Everything was clean, comfortable, beautiful. The staff was absolutely superb!! Everyone went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. Very very friendly. Lots for kids to do and plenty of relaxing for grownups!
