Unfortunately we only had one night at this truly beautiful hotel. Wish we had had more. Can’t begin to describe the opulence & visual delights. The service could not have been better & all the staff were so friendly. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Lovely plate ware, fabulous food in a delightful & serene setting. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel!
The hotel is a very old building, so if you don't really like old houses, it would be nothing to stay in. But we liked it and it didn't bother us to hear everyone outside of our room! We booked online and by arriving they told us, that we stay in a house nearby and asked if we would like to upgrade (which costs 50 USD more). The price is quite hight but the room had a fabulous view over the cost, so it was worth it. The garden and the pool area is very nice, and we could play with the kids outside, very good idea to provide games! The breakfast was very good, for everybody something! The fruits were excellent.
We arrived on 10 June of this year for three nights. The hotel was very clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was included in our package and was superb. Serving staff was congenial and attentive. Our room was one of two with a balcony that overlooked the water...what beautiful views. The heated saltwater outdoor pool was clean and most relaxing. It was a short walk from the hotel to casual restaurants. The lobster rolls were out of this world!
We have a 13year old chihuahua with health issues and separation anxiety so having a hotel be so dog friendly was extremely appreciated. We were able to dine with him by the pool for lunch and on the porch for breakfast. He sat with us next to the pool which was HUGE for us, as most hotels won’t allow this and he has too much anxiety to be left alone in an unfamiliar room. It really made all the difference in our vacation! Food: Breakfast buffet wasn’t a large spread, but we found plenty to eat and it was delicious - loved the blueberry pancakes. Lunch by the pool was great too (think soups, salads, sandwiches). We got pulled pork and grilled chicken sandwiches. I thought it was a bit overpriced until we saw the portions, neither of us was able to finish our meal. Rooms: So lovely! Decor is very charming and romantic. We stayed in September so no ac didn’t bother us as the windows crack and ceiling fan were enough to keep us cool. It was also nice not having a TV so we could unplug for a bit. Pool: As I mentioned above, we were allowed to have our dog with us as we relaxed beside the pool which made our vacation! It was heated so we were able to enjoy it even in September. We will definitely return again for a long weekend with our dog in tow!
After reviewing different room information online at TripAdvisor we decided to visit the hotel we were only a mile away. After walking into the lobby to find out about the discrepancy in rooms we ended up talking to three different individuals at the front desk as no one really could discuss accommodations. I was frustrated and decided to go elsewhere. On this trip to Kennebunkport Maine we paid $300(Perkins Cove- Beautiful Breathtaking) and as little as $160 Per night. This place couldn’t even clarify what kind of rooms they have available. The rooms and buildings are different, be careful before you reserve one!
As young kids in the 60’s, we visited Kennebunkport and stayed at the Sea Spray Motor Inn on Gooch’s beach (now plowed under and replaced by beautiful homes) and occasionally the Narraganset Hotel (when dad had a good year)....but it is now a retirement home... We always dreamed of staying at the swanky Colony Hotel...so beautiful up on the hill overlooking Gooch’s beach from the other side of the river...but alas, it was a bit out of reach... Until this year..... My wife and I stayed for a mere two days (on a long road trip through New England) and........wow. From the beautiful architecture, gorgeous cedar strip floors and ancient wood, to the warm/ friendly and efficient reception (with complementary Prosecco!), The Colony was a dream come true. The grounds were impeccable, the restaurant food quality and service was wonderful... Everyone working seemed happy to be there...our fellow guests were happy and friendly (and our Golden Retriever was treated to unlimited hugs)....it was a shame we had to leave. We can’t wait for the opportunity to return!
A beautiful hotel, great staff and the food is fantastic! We love going there, we went with a group of 12 this time, some had never been they just loved it. We plan to go back next summer. We have already made plans with more of our friends to come back.
My wife and I spent three nights at the Colony Hotel the end of August. We stayed in a queen double Oceanview room which was very comfortable. The sound of the waves from the nearby beach were very calming and relaxing in the evening. We made good use of the pool and took long walks to Walker’s point. The location is perfect for walking into town and for access to the restaurants in the area. My wife rented a bike from the front desk and enjoyed her ride to Cape Porpoise. All in all a very relaxing stay at the Colony.
I loved this place, like a quirky cottage. Get a waterfront room that overlooks the saltwater pool, always heated to the perfect temperature. Breakfast on the porch is great, as is dinner in the bar downstairs. And it's a short walk to Walker Point, or Dock Square.
We had 2 nights in this hotel, it was fine but nothing special. We had a room in the main building, one of the two with a large balcony- definitely a beautiful view. The building and room however felt tired. We would have liked a fridge without having to pay for it and a tv Although other family members in a different building had both). Breakfast was buffet style and actually quite good. There was plenty for kids to do with games around the grounds and a pool. There was plenty of parking and WiFi was good. Note there is a beach, it is across the road. My main problem was noise, we did not sleep much as the building was noisy and sound seemed to carry. People in the corridors did not seem to consider people trying to sleep and dogs were barking. (We realized there was one next door!) we both resorted to earplugs to try to sleep. As a couple, we would not stay there again. But we were with family including kids and with them I would stay again as there was so much to keep them occupied.
