After traveling all day we wanted to rest our eyes, use the restrooms, and use the wifi to plan our next day. Got there at 4:20, 4 was check-in time. After waiting 20 minutes in line at the front desk the concierge told us the rooms were not ready and that they would call us when they were ready. So we went into Bar Harbor and got dinner. They called us after 7 that our room was finally ready, over 3 hours later. The next day we woke up and the power was out. Although this was not something to do with the hotel (a good part of the town lost power), it just illustrates why it was ridiculous that the room was not ready for check-in for over 3 hours. So the next day when we wanted to use the wifi to plan our day, we had no wifi because the power was out. The generators did not even support power to the individual rooms. Had we checked in on time this would not have mattered. It's pretty bad when the mgmt. cannot run day to day operations properly. It staff is short then you call the temp agencies. This is a hotel that capitalizes on seasonal tourism and should be ready for everything. The hotel did not offer any kind of compensation. I asked if they would give us an upgrade to ocean front due to the check-in delay, and even though there were rooms available they said there were not. I know there were rooms available because I heard them tell the previous person that there were. All in all really awful customer service.

When my wife and I checked in for the weekend, we were informed we were lucky we were being placed in a suite in the Stone House. Sounded good to us! It was a nice looking room with a great water view, but the rest of our experience was really, really, really bad. Since we checked in late, we went strait to bed (right after turning the thermostat up because the room temperature read a frigid 59 on the thermostat). By morning the temperature only increased 1-2 degrees, never higher than 61. And I woke up with a cold. Something was clearly wrong with the heat. I decided to take a hot bath to try to warm up, only to find that the tub would not hold water. The drain plug was dysfunctional. Moments later, we found out the toilet was clogged and would not flush. We picked up the phone to call the front desk, and there was no dial tone, the phone did not work. Nothing was going right with this room and our weekend was off to a horrible start. I just kept thinking "I can't believe I paid over $200 for this!" The room conditions were no better than camping! After recounting our experience to front desk staff and the on-duty manager that morning, and again later that night, all we received was a mild apology and offer to move rooms. We appreciated the tepid show of empathy, but it remains to be completely unacceptable that we paid $236 for that experience. Still awaiting a response from management or customer service. I'll update my review if they help remedy the situation.

Great staff, nice room. Location is perfect for seeing the town and Acadia. Highly recommend!

While this hotel had several good points, It was consistently hampered by not having the small things that make a hotel great. For example, there was no coffee available in the morning. I wake up early and don't want to wake my family by brewing a cup of coffee in the room; however, there were no other options on site prior to 6:30 AM. I had to drive into Bar Harbor for coffee when really all I wanted to do was sit in the lobby on my laptop. They also didn't have small incidentals if you forgot something...small things like this kept popping up and I wouldn't expect it from a place that cost the amount that this hotel cost. Also, for some reason both my daughter and wife left with a rash due to whatever was used on the sheets.

Nice staff, clean, many things to do there. Definitely coming back here again!

We booked this hotel but the hotel had over-booked customers and sent us to a different hotel within their network! This was very disappointing as we booked this hotel in order to collect points. We first went here to check in which took 45 minutes, and were then told we need to go elsewhere and had to drive another 10 minutes and wait in line to check in again for another 15 minutes.

Beautiful Hotel inside and out. Pool Area is gorgeous overlooking the bay. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The island explorer shuttle is a great short ride down to the pier. Wonderful place to visit and stay. Will go back again, this was our second trip to Bar Harbor and second stay at the Holiday Inn Resort.

Location- convenient. Short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Staff- all were super friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Christopher and Benji who were so sweet and helpful when we couldn't get our room key to work. Important to know- this hotel has 2 different buildings, which have dramatically different qualities. We were given a room in the Eden House which seemed older, stuff did not work as well (keycard scanner to get into the building), concrete stairwell etc. Cleanliness was ok. The main building is MUCH nicer. Looked like most rooms had a balcony. All the amenities are in this building as well so kind of a pain in the butt when you have to walk to far to get to pool and restaurant. Pool & hot tub- gorgeous view and very nice. Great for getting a drink at sunset. Overall would probably stay here again but only if we were guaranteed a room in the main building.

I was a little afraid after reading some of the other reviews, but I found the Holiday Inn to be pretty good. The price you pay for Columbus weekend was way more than it should've been, but we got a full ocean view room and free breakfast so that was nice. The breakfast was the best free buffet I've been to, lots of options including an omlet station. We were sad to see that the Stewmans restaurant was closed for the season even though the hotel was completely booked. They probably should close after Columbus weekend. That would've been so convenient for us, but instead we went into town for dinner. The room has a new carpet and a new bathroom. The beds were old and very low to the floor. No pilowtop mattresses but they were still pretty comfortable. Is surprised to find we didn't hear a pep from our neighbors... However hall noise was very loud. If it was warmer the pool looked beautiful... Just to cold outside to go in. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was just OK... Pretty bland in the flavor department. Overall, an OK experience.

We had a great time at this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Location is great. Room is good average. Could have been cleaned better

We were very pleased with the overall stay, clean room, great view, many restaurant options, and close to all the town has to offer.

It was a great stay. Staff was friendly and had everything prepared for our stay. We were placed with an ocean view and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

This building is a little dated, but not bad. Nothing in this area is cheap and a July 4th weekend fills up quick. Overall very nice facility. Great pool, right on the ocean and very close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Great hotel close to Bar Harbor, lovely pool and views over ocean

This is a solid value for the money. Good location clean rooms

Loved the beds here. They were ultra comfortable. It was a good location to the downtown bar harbor scene.

Great place to relax and unwind. Rooms were comfortable and the facilities were great.

Great value on the water with a great swimming pool overlooking the ocean :)
