We stay here several times per year. We keep coming back because we know our stay will be quiet, safe, comfortable; and I love the FREE breakfast. I feel like a VIP when they have the Manager's Social during the week. We'll see you again in December!
I began staying at this property back in 2000 and for many years it was pretty good. It was especially nice that they had a 'manager's reception' in the evenings, which was always popular with my colleagues and myself. Over the years this property has just been in a slow downward spiral and I think I've had enough. My chief complaints are with the slow deterioration in the condition of the facility. They have been doing work on the property for the past year or two trying to fix it up, but they're not doing a very good job. Case in point, I stayed here for a week in June 2017 and they were replacing the carpet at that time. Problem is, they were replacing the carpet on my floor during the day, so when I would try to come or go from my room during the day I sometimes couldn't get in/out because they had pulled up the old carpet and laid down the glue for the new carpet...or the new carpet was laid down but not trimmed yet and was propped up against my door. Then, they were replacing the carpet on the floor above me late into the evening...excuse me...morning...1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, etc...they basically worked all night, more than one night...constant bumping and banging noises that ruined my ability to get any sleep. And the worst part is that the carpet they put in looks like it was ripped out of a video arcade or bowling alley. Just the worst. Another problem is the constant flow of people who are not guests and not employees.....but appear to be friends and family of the employees. They're always hanging out, partaking of the reception, using the pool, sometimes breakfast. It's annoying and makes me feel less than safe here. Several years ago a colleague of mine woke up to find his car up on blocks in the hotel parking lot, someone had stolen the wheels and tires off his car. The police suspect a possible 'inside' job. And last, there's the manager's reception. This too has declined over the years. They used to do a really good job of putting out a nice spread of food and beverages from 5-7pm Monday through Thursday. Then the quantity and selection began to decline, and sometimes if you weren't there in the first 15 mins you might not get anything. Then they trimmed it back to just one hour, from 6-7pm...again with a very limited selection and quantity. So, here I am, back again...only to find that the reception is now only on Wednesday from 6-7pm. That was the last and only reason I had left to stay here. I'll now be staying at the Hampton Inn down the street. So long HIE, it's been real.
Big suggestion: try not to get a room near an exit door. People are not considerate of sleeping folks when they have to go to work. The staff are very nice offering good suggestions of places to eat or get takeout. Breakfast was good, certainly filling.
Traveling from Florida to New Hampshire. Bad reviews on other hotels nearby so I stuck with my go to Holiday Inn... Needed a quick recharge and family and I had no complaints. 2 rooms 4 beds less than $200. Served its purpose, clean rooms, staff was great! Right off the 95 which makes it easier to get back on the road in the morning and breakfast is included which helps a lot with the kids. Satisfied customer.
Room was ok, typical for HIE properties. What was atrocious was the lack of sanitation at breakfast, and even worse, the front desk attitude when it was brought to their attention. Hotel had a large group of foreign travellers. They were reaching into the food buffet with fingers and directly grabbing out food. There were serving tongs readily available, they just didn't use them. No one from the hotel was supervising the breakfast room, only one staff who was doing cleanup, and did not respond. I brought the issue to the attention of the front desk clerk, with the suggestion they talk to the group organizers and set expectations. What I got back was attitude - "we put out the utensils, we are not responsible to see they use them, its like any buffet". When I suggested otherwise, that they were responsible to supervise the buffet, the attitude got worse. If you must stay in this place, avoid the breakfast buffet. They don't care what kind of violations happen.
Front desk people nice. This hotel needs a renovation. Starting to get worn out like a Hollywood actress who has hit 40. Not in a pretty area. Clientele a little blue collar. Vaguely smells like cigarettes smoke.
We had been on the road for a long time (Motorcycle) and were very tired. We walked in without a reservation and Tammy was very helpful. She was very good, polite, energetic, welcoming us with a great sense of humor. Thanks Tammy for your welcome.
I work for the state and so am sales tax exempt. I could not print of my form because the business center printer had no ink, but Tammi helped me adjust my folio to get the state tax taken off and was very nice as she did so she was great. The only 2 negatives were the heat in my room, I had to keep it on 80 degrees just to get my room up to 68. Also the business center does not have microsoft office on their computer, so when my laptop crashed the word document I was trying to write I had to do on wordpad which was a nightmare. Overall good hotel good service and Tammi rocked!
Staying here due to weather concerns for my job, but if I had to stay in Wilson, this is where I'd stay. Probably the best hotel here. Room is clean. It's rather quiet. Bed is much more comfortable than I expected. Because of my work schedule, I have been sleeping during the day. Housekeeping did not bother me at all. Breakfast has been hot every morning. If I were to complain about anything, there is no Fox News on the cable system.
My family and I drove from Philadelphia to Wilson North Carolina for a funeral. I made reservations for two rooms for one night. When we arrived to the hotel Saturday Morning after driving for 9 hours, I went inside to check if an early check in was possible to find out that my reservations were cancelled the night before. I received no phone call, email, text, voicemail etc. When I asked about it being reinstated, I was told that they were sold out for a Soccer tournament. Reggie the front desk agent (Very nice) offered to help me book a reservation at a hotel about 30 minutes away, but that was to far away from where we needed to be! I called yesterday 12/15/16 and finally was able to speak to the General Manager Mr. Easter, who didn't apologize but suggested that I "call Holiday Inn guest assistance and see what they can do for me". How professional is that. For someone to drive that far and have no place to stay. I was just surprised of the nonchalant attitude he had, like I'm the one who did something to him! Lol crazy!
