We had a wonderful time. The hotel staff, especially front desk Edgar was especially helpful and informative with arranging tours, recommending places to eat, etc. The hotel is close to strip and beach, however was quiet enough to enjoy a good night's sleep.
Great staff! Great rooms, slow wifi tho.... The breakfast in the the morning is DELICOUS and the buffet varies daily. Pool looks great during the day and night!
Hotel was great for the value, comfortable bed, AC was noise less, very good. Close to 5th Avenue and surrounded by restaurants to choose from. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
The location of this hotel is great for those who want to stay in playa and explore the town. It is centrally located, therefore you can practically walk anywhere. We enjoyed the breakfast that was included with the stay. This was perfect because for lunch and dinner we were able to eat at local restaurants which offered awesome, authentic Mexican food! We rented a car which was also perfect because we easily got around and did excursions on our own. This proved to be economical and again gave us the opportunity to explore other parts of the Riviera Maya. Overall this hotel offers a perfect stay when you go with a plan in mind and stick to an itinerary.
Overall the hotel was pretty good. It was quiet and relaxing at any given time of the day. Pool was a nice getaway from the beach. Great location close to everything including the beach. For a non-inclusive it was worth the stay and the price.
The staff is so friendly! The bartender at the hotel made the best Margaritas in Playa! The pool is so clean and nice. We have stayed at Playa before but by far the best hotel we have stood at so far :-) would recommend and go back again! Everything was perfect from the rooms to the service.
This is a great, little retreat right in the heart of Playa Del Carmen - two blocks from the beach and dive shops, one block from the main drag, two blocks from Walmart and surrounded by lots of places to eat. It also included free beach lounge chairs at two beach clubs that also offered a free appetizer. They also have a pretty good, free Mexican style breakfast buffet that beats most free American breakfast buffets any day. The only negative for some might be that it's across the street from Coco Bongo and you can hear the music at night but it's pretty faint. We were there during the low season so I can imagine that the area might be louder during peak times but this probably comes with the territory of any downtown location. If you have a car, parking might be tough during peak times too. We had to park two blocks away which wasn't bad. In all, great deal!
We used to LOVE this hotel, due to the friendly staff and great amenities. HOWEVER, this stay was totally different from anything we had known in the past. We did not have: hot water, a working hairdryer, and a telephone. They did fix the satellite dish, so we did have a TV. The water is not potable, but they did provide an 8 oz. bottle of water for the day. The reception staff that I remember is long gone. The reception clerk and the doorman laughed and talked most of the time. It seemed that it was an imposition to interrupt them. We won't be interrupting them again.
-Sight See -They were very cheap with the Shampoo and Bodywash. - Very good. We enjoyed the peaceful place of Magic Blue. Very Tranquil.
The hotel was ok. It was quiet but the room could have been cleaner. Also there was no hot water. We had to take freezing cold showers.
located just off the beaten path,it's like stepping into a different world when you enter the hotel. the courtyard was exotic, quiet and gorgeous!
Hotel was very quiet, clean, and an oasis. Every time we walked into the courtyard, we were amazed how quiet and peaceful it was. At least 1/2 the street noise if not 1/4. And the grounds are absolutely perfectly kept.
This was a very friendly hotel with beautiful landscaping and clean accommodations. We were always greeted warmly and given great service. The restaurant next door that served breakfast also did a wonderful job.
This is a great hotel to stay at while in Playa. The rooms are very clean, the staff is very professional and helpful as well. The pool area one of the best we have found. The only down side to the hotel is that it can be noisy at night due to the clubs around it.
We wanted a non-resort hotel in Playa Del Carmen - and Magic Blue is a fantastic solution. Located in the heart of the district, you can walk to almost anything in a few minutes. No glamerous drive up, but once inside the lobby and the main grounds you feel like you're on a tropical island. Upstairs room with a thatched ceiling, wonderful bed and fixtures, staff were always helpful, and the pool was lovely. Wife had the free 5 minute massage and I purchased the 30 minute sport massage - excellent masseuse, reasonable price. There is no restaurant on site, but they're partners with the Brazillian restaurant next door for breakfast and food at the pool. Highly recommend for travelers who don't want a Disneyland type resort and want a very tranquil environment, but close to all.
Great location, one block from 5th ave. Local noise didn't bother much, great pool and bar. I'd come back there again.
The very LOUD and OBNOXIOUS night club Coco Bongos was right across the street, You are not allowed any visitors! Felt more like a prison than a vacation. Would NEVER go back again. There are so many other quiet spots with less obtrusive employees!!
This small, quiet place is an oasis. Just walk out the door and you're in the middle of the action. Don't ask the desk for restaurant suggestions, as they will point you to the tourist traps. Be adventurous and discover your own cool places.
My boyfriend and I loved Magic Blue. It was a great little oasis in the middle of Playa del Carmen. We were a little concerned when we were given a top floor room after reading other reviews about it being loud but we didn't have a problem with it at all. However, if you are a light sleeper you might want to go ahead and ask for a lower level room (the thatched roof while cool is not very sound resistant). Also one tip is always start out the night with a Margarita from the Hotel Bar as they are delicious, strong and cheap! Plus you will get great friendly service ([...] was fantastic!). The beach club is super convenient and the breakfast at the next door restaurant was delicious (don't miss the french toast). This was a great hotel at a great value. We would def come back!
Can't wait to go back, this time with my partner. this is a very charming l?ittle hotel, in the heart of Playa, a few steps away from teh bes clubs and restaurants. Right on the spot! Cant' wait to go back really, only this time, with a loger stay planned.
