We were looking for a halfway point during our travel to PA and came across this hotel. It got excellent reviews, but I’m unsure of why. The exterior and the hallway looked great. But upon entering the room the carpets were dirty, there were marks and stains all over the walls. I had to tell the kids to keep their shoes on and not touch anything but the bed. The website said our room would sleep 4. There was a king bed and a chair that folded out into a tiny uncomfortable bed. That’s not sleeping 4. So we crammed into bed and had a terrible night’s sleep. The fold out chair bed was so stained that it almost made me gag. The breakfast was mediocre at best. I’m really unsure of how this hotel has been rated to high. I had high hopes.
This hotel exceeds my expectations every time. Definitely a hidden gem in a small town. The rooms were great and the staff went above and beyond. Was like being at home.... even better Looking forward to staying here again.
I enjoyed my visit at Stay-Over Suites. The fresh cookies daily were amazing, the ladies that work the front desk had great personalities. Lisa and Barbara were my two FABORITE! The room was a nice size and a nice kitchen. Location to Fort Lee was amazing. Easy 7 minute drive. Highly recommend for those who will be there TDY.
I was staying in another hotel, when my buddy told me about Stay Over Suites. I was paying more for less; go figure. Stay Over Suites is like a small apartment with most of the comforts of home; without breaking bank. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and will be looking forward to staying another Stay Over Suits when I travel again. Finally, they love the Military!
I had the pleasure of staying here. The staff was great, friendly and very accommodating! The suite were very adequate and quite cozy. With the stay and very military friendly! If you are in the area, make sure to see if they have availability.
We had a bit of trouble here visiting over a holiday weekend and not being properly informed of the fact that there would be no maid services on one of the days of our stay. But the manager/owner, in the end, took care of us. She was very pleasant and helpful. The space was plenty large enough with a little mini-kitchen. No other complaints and a good place to spend a few days.
Full kitchen w/ all the fixings to include, Refrigerator, stove top, oven, microwave, sink, and coffee pot. Comfortable living area w/ eat at bar and TV, couch and chair. Full bedroom w/TV closet and chair. along w/ the hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Close to local establishments, Ft. Lee, and Petersburg. Only 20 minutes from (RIC) Richmond International Airport. Close to a large variety of restaurants and other businesses in the area. Friendly professional staff, continental breakfast. Well worth the stay at a great Price!
This property is off the main road, so you will need a car to reach stores and restaurants. The receptionist at the front desk was polite but off-putting; she read off a list of rules that were far from welcoming, and made me wonder if the other guests were safe to be around. My room was large (although much of the space was the kitchen). The windows were filthy, there was no hair conditioner, and the complimentary breakfast was basic. For one night, this was a fine choice, and it is convenient to the battlefield.
Stayed here before touring Petersburg National Battlefield. Excellent location for that and for Ft. Lee. Very nice, large room with full kitchen, good bed and bath. Very very friendly staff. Actually left a computer item behind and they found it and shipped it to me! Good breakfast. Back from the road a bit so no traffic noise.
Scent: An overwhelming, gag-inducing room scent - like an international dish - just would not leave the room, even after we cooked and cleaned. I wish they would adopt federal building policies of no smoking within 50ft of the building. I was welcomed to smoke in my face when i entered/left the room building, before and after eating breakfast in the main building. I dont care if people smoke, just as a nonsmoker I should have a choice not to be forced to walk right into it. Sight: few stains in the hallway but overall a nice hotel. Although, something appearing like a nose goober was on the wall. Taste: breakfast...great on day 1, good on day 2, day 3 of the same exact thing was too much and we stayed longer than that. Europeans and some American hotels use deli meat and cheeses so they dont cook. They pick up fresh rolls and breads. Even stateside hotels take the money earned and pick up fresh fruit even if its just apples, oranges, grapes and bananas. Statesides also use the money taken in and make a bunch of bacon, scrambled eggs or sausages and keep them warm. Easy for the hotel...an oven and stove is in the kitchen. Then the guest have a choice of adding their meats to any gravy, if applicable. These are mostly military members so offering them nothing but carbs and sugars (waffles, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal packets (sugar), hot chocolate, cereal (sugars); and then their only options are hard-boiled eggs, fruit-filled yogurt (sugar), and the meat pieces thrown in the gravy is a recipe for a heart attack or being chaptered for being overweight. Touch: the beds are covered with what appears to be old CIF defective exchange gear. The sheets were yellow and stiff as a board. The comforter and pillows were very thin AIT-types, and itchy. The pull-out couch was a twin covered in plastic that didnt pull out flat...we have two older kids. So glad we brought our own blankets and airbeds. Our older child used our airbed the entire stay but was freezing using the thin comforter. We leave and receive a phone call that the maid says we stole a hotel airbed!! Not only did we not see an airbed the entire time, but we didnt request one. Our airbed is a queen with a self-pump. I highly doubt if they have air mattresses they have that size, brand new with a self-pump. I have been upset about the accusation which pushed the score down. Although they apologized, it doesnt mean they wouldnt go and charge the acct anyway. Customer Svc: the ladies were extremely helpful at the front desk and breakfast. Our kids enjoyed the cookies. We had to request towels night one, request dishes night two, request blankets night one and the day mentioned below. Even though they were way down the hall, the maid came as soon as we left for breakfast. When we returned to the room the lights were left on (wasting electricity), the towels were taken and not replaced, yet the garbage was full. We had to clean ourselves. Facilites: spouse states the gym is weak at best. No real equipment. Fattening breakfast and weak gym equipment....The exterior is well kept. It's right off the highway and really quiet except for the train in the am. Room: kitchenette with stove top. Sink with small bottle of dish liquid. Dishes and full-size fridge. Living area with pull-out couch (mattress covered in plastic (understandable) and twin size). Tv in living area. Separate queen bed with tv and desk. Wifi for work and home-searching worked well. Central ac. Nice size closet in bedroom. Bathroom clean and nice.
