Stayed at the Super 8 in Plattsburgh, NY. Calling this place disgusting is an understatement. The room we checked into had a gross and filthy bathtub. We went to the front desk to see if we could change our room. We went to another room, same thing...but not only was the bathtub dirty in this new room, the toilet looked like someone messed on it continually for months and never cleaned it!!! Plus, for a hotel that says they are smoke free, the place reeked like smoke. Wanted my money back immediately. Was told by the front desk that I could not get my money back on the spot, and there is no manager currently employed by the hotel that could help. I asked for the name of the owner, and was told that front desk is not allowed to give out any information on how to reach the owner. I have tried e-mailing several times, but to no avail. DO NOT STAY ON THIS PROPERTY, unless you like bathing in other people's filth, of course.
Terrible experience with the stay. We had so many dead and alive house fly in the room that we were uncomfortable sleeping there....we did complain but there were no room available for change. Bathroom corners had spiders. Not a good experience here. Will never recommend or stay there again.
Chose this hotel for price and location. Let me say the staff was great during check in, check out, accommodating special needs plus being generally helpful. I made the reservation several months in advance and requested a ground floor room. When I checked in none were available, sorry all sold out. Imagine my chagrin when I found they do not have a lift? What no elevator in a modern hotel? When I got to the room on floor 2 the attendant was still changing the room out. We left for a snack and returned to a room that had cobwebs with dead flies trapped in the web near the AC unit. There were several dead flies behind the drapes, yuck, and several live one flitting about. The toilet would not dispose of solid waste unless it was flushed several times. The drain in the washbasin was plugged and water took minutes to completely drain out. I could have requested a plumber but hate to have people in our room when we are not there. Management said they were sold out so we did not request another room. The breakfast was a petite continental at best. We only used the orange juice to take some meds and even that was warm on two of the 4 days we were there. Had a good breakfast at a couple of the well rated breakfast spots in town. Maybe another room would have given us a totally different outlook, who knows. The next time in the area we will probably seek another location.
Sheets had a roughly 6 inch diameter yellow (urine) stain in the middle. Couch had more stained areas than non stained areas. Shower had a ring of black mold around it. Called the front desk about the sheets and was told there were no other rooms. Asked for the sheets to be changed and was handed a ball of sheets and left to change them on my own. The mattress pad and the mattress were even more urine stained than the sheets. The new sheets were also stained. No manager on duty that night, the next morning, or when I called back later in the week. Was finally offered 20 percent off a future stay at this specific property. However, I would never go back even if they paid me. Avoid this hotel unless you're into urine stained sheets, possibly that's a plus for some freaks. The breakfast was also pathetic. It was cheap, so I guess that's something.
Pretty good deal for the money paid. Breakfast was undesireable, but there are other options close by.
On site staff very good; clean and conveniently located for flying out of Plattsburgh airport. Good value for the stay itself. Just be wary of the owner/general manager ... There was an issue with my credit card being accidentally double charged by the hotel staff on site (ie. I did not pre-pay through booking.com) which should have been remedied simply by the staff reversing the 2nd charge. Unfortunately the owner/general manager chose to make an ordeal of it. He has not empowered his on-site staff to reverse credit card charges. He is not present or available at the property. He hides behind his staff and two e-mail address (reservations and firstname.lastname@example.org). He chooses not to provide a telephone number where he can be reached directly (you can only call and speak with his front line staff), nor does he contact the customer by telephone when provided a number and requested to. He is slow to respond to e-mails, requiring multiple followups. He causes he staff to incur much stress and inconvenience by putting them on the front line while not empowering them. He invented an excuse saying the 2nd charge was for a reservation a week later; there was no such reservation and no evidence of such a reservation (there was of course the booking.com confirmation for the one night I did reserve). After multiple messages from myself, including escalating to Wyndham customer service, the owner finally relented and did the right thing by refunding the 2nd charge on my card. I cannot say for certain what this owner/general manager might have done had I not put the time/effort into multiple calls/e-mails; but I do conclude there is a high probability that he would simply have pocketed my money.
I checked in, having booked a no-smoking room. The no-smoking room reeked of cigarettes. Even having housekeeping change the filter in the a/c and spraying all fabric surfaces with Febreeze did not get rid of the odor. Apparently, there was not one single alternative room to put me in. The toilet ran constantly. The microwave had no glass plate on which to put food. Guests are provided with the usual small bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap, but no conditioner. Half the time the internet doesn't work or doesn't work properly and the owner does not let the desk clerks have access to the internet system, nor to call the ISP, so..... nothing gets fixed until the next business day when the owner can be contacted. The owner has instructed the desk clerks to point guests with complaints to the owner's email address and not to give out the Wyndham Customer Service phone number or information. I don't know if Wyndham is aware of this owner's shenanigans, but they should be. After my first night, the room was not cleaned, nor the bed made up. I was unable to get any satisfaction with respect to an accommodation on the price of the room, even after all that I was subjected to as I booked on booking.com. I will NEVER stay in this dive again.
The entrance was unassuming to the point that I thought I was going in a side door. Check in was smooth and the room is spacious (it looks like they took a bed out to make extra space). However, there is a lingering smell of cigar in the hallways, the hallway light outside our room is out (we did mention this to someone at the desk but it still hasn't been fixed), there are multiple floor tiles in the bathroom that are loose, the sink is in a separate room but the opening is so narrow I feel claustrophobic. The breakfast is minimal: tiny muffins, bread and waffles that you toast, 2 cold cereals and the coffee was just not good.
As someone who always stays at wyndham hotels and frequents the area, i will never stay here again. Besides the fact that the stay was not that great - channels didn't come in on the TV, the room had an odor of smoke, the breakfast was not too appealing and the toilet was running all night, there is now an additional inconvenience where my card has been charged twice and i noticed it after check out in the evening and I did inquire about immediately to prevent having to come to this point, but the night girl didnt see it. Called in the am, it was seen but now she has not authority to do billing and gave me an email which is supposedly the manager. After 2 emails and another call - NO RESPONSE. What kind of business is that. Such things have happened before, but Days Inn and Microtel have corrected it immediately. Next stop is going to corporate. There are alot of hotels in the area - stay elsewhere!
