Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel

4.0 out of 5.0

Safe, clean, room was bigger than normal, close to everything.

Loved our stay at the Renaissance! Comfy beds, friendly staff and perfect location to attend baseball games, restaurants & museums.

The bad: 1. Dirty pillow case 2. Holes in towel (lot of wear and tear with out batch) 3. Stinky fridge 4. Staff responsiveness slow 5. Price 6. LOUD CONSTRUCTION NOISE THROUGHOUT THE DAY! Good 1. View 2. Location There is renovations being done in font of the main entrance. It will wake you up early. For the price I paid the service was poor. Would not recommend.

Bathroom was very clean and well maintained but the door (a sliding door)was always stuck and could not close all the way.The absence of a handle made it worse. Each time you entered was an event and at the end just about ruined the good things about the room. Room service was delivered but left for me to sign the check at the front of the door. Usually meals are brought in and reviewed by the waiter. Overall not bad.

Great hotel in the heart of the cultural district. Fantastic view of the North Shore. However, I was disappointed that the room did not have a microwave oven. We could not warm up our leftovers from the fantastic restaurants nearby, nor heat up our not-so-warm room service meal.

In town for a Steelers game. Can't beat the location and the hotel and staff was great. Highly recommended.

The Staff worked hard to be sure we were completely happy - one of the better work out rooms I have seen, and a location that served our needs so well. In an historically significant building, the lobby offers a classic old school type charm, grace and beauty (Hint: look up when entering the lobby.)

Went to the Pirates game on Friday night, and walked across the Clemente Bridge to PNC Park. Clemente Bridge is across the street from the hotel. Beautiful corner room on 8th floor with great view of PNC Park. Room was beautiful and can not beat the location for a Pirates game. Staff was friendly.

From the time we pulled up to valet park our car, we had an awesome experience. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. When there was a temporary glitch in the electronic key system that prevented us from opening our door, the cleaning and maintenance staff on the floor were very helpful. After confirming our identity, they let us into the room and brought us new keys. The view from our room was spectacular, overlooking PNC park and the Allegheny river. The room was spacious and beautiful The bar was small but comfortable and the drinks and food were very good. Overall we loved the hotel. Only small negative was the grout in the shower it could have used an update.

The Renaissance is a fabulous hotel - top notch service every time.

Friendly staff, great bar, clean room, not much else you could ask for!

It was difficult to get a cab from this location. The bellman tried but we still waited almost 20 minutes.

Walking distance to a lot of attractions, great staff , quite and clean rooms with good views

Everything was perfect, only improvement could be a little better service with valet parking. Maybe not enough attendants present?

Front desk and bell/ concierge staff made my stay wonderful. They were so helpful and always smiling. I did not like the restaurant including the food. There is room for improvement.

I travel a great deal for business so I know hotels: this is a wonderful hotel. The room layout is unique and cozy, not the usual cookie-cutter room. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing I would ask for would be more electrical outlets for my assorted electronic devices. I had to hunt along the walls for outlets and ended up recharging my cellphone in the bathroom.

this is a nice hotel with much character. Good value compared to NYC, but top of the price range for Pittsburgh. I would stay there again.

From [...] at the front desk to the door staff everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and attractive and the public space more than I expected for a Marriott. Loved the location close to Market Square for outdoor breakfast or coffee, theatre, and shopping. I will return to this new Pittsburgh find.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with easy access to the convention center and parking. Prices were a bit steep at the restaurant and for the mini bar, but the accommodations were lovely and spacious. Internet access was very speedy. Only complaint was the bed was a little firmer than I care for, and the pillows were a bit odd, though I have no idea how to describe them. Overall I was very happy and would stay there again.

This hotel is very pretentious, despite being an average hotel - they apparently cater to a "discerning traveler". The "common" areas, like lobby and hallways, are very nice, but the rooms themselves were small. The beds were tiny. To me, I don't care if the lobby is grand or if the hallways are really nice. I dont spend my time there. I spend my time in my room - which was on the small side. The walls are very thin and you can hear some sounds from the adjacent rooms. You can definitely hear doors slam shut and people walking in the hallways. I found this hotel disappointing. It looked nice, but that's all the merit - it just LOOKS nice. Its not NICE to be there. I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone travelling to Pittsburgh. Also, the staff wasn't forthcoming on places to park a car - they kept trying to push the valet service. Valet service isn't a big attraction to me - I hate waiting for my car or calling ahead.
