I was kind of disappointed by the room. I have stayed at Fairfield inn in the past and have never encountered this problem before. The room was damp and smelly on arrival. We were too tired to complain about it and went to sleep but he odor lingered throughout our stay. We stayed in room 302. It was a corner room on the third floor and it is quite possible that the issue was because of the location. The hotel otherwise, is clean and staff friendly. The bathroom was rather small.
Marriott properties are well managed and well maintained. Fairfield inn is on the lower end of the Marriott family. You stay here because of price. Here's the problem: the sink is NOT in the bathroom. It is in the hallway so that there is no privacy. It is highly visible from the rest of the room. So staying here is just fine if traveling alone. Sharing the room with another person presents a problem. Everything you do is on full display. C'mon Marriott, you knew better. I will never stay in another Marriott without for calling the front desk to discuss the sink location.
Great location, right next to major grocery store to get all the healthy food you want, and right around a bunch of restaurants. Courtesy shuttle is sparkling and large. Customer service at the front desk was professional, friendly, welcoming. The young lady on 8/8 running the front desk should get a pat on the back for her representing your hotel so well. If I come back to the area, this is where I will stay. And they have a keurig in the room. And exceptional high speed. And hot coffee in the lobby. And a place to sit and work even after you check out!
Typical Marriott property. Nice Hotel with a great staff. Rooms very comfortable and check in process very simple and quick. Front desk clerk very friendly and informative even at 2:30am when we arrived due to problems at the car rental agency. Breakfast was good as always, but the attendant could've been nicer. Maybe she was having a bad day. Overall, great stay and best of all a great price.
Was visiting northern Virginia for business in Tyson Corner and Ashburn. Herndon, VA was right in the middle of the two locations. Hotel was in a safe area mid income area with a lot of restaurant choices. Check-in was very simple and the staff were both very friendly and efficient throughout the process. Hotel room was average size and pretty nice. The room had a desk area, fast internet and plenty of light. The bathroom was a little on the small size, but works. The sink area is right on right as you walk into room and the first thing you see. This placement was a little strange. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again, without a second thought.
VERY Nice hotel with well appointed rooms. Not only is there a fridge but also a microwave and kurig. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable- no gross bed spreads here. Was not able to check in early (12:30) but was able to check in around 3:00. Room itself was quite but exterior noise such as the bus idling outside our window at 11:00'at night and the stairwell door opening and closing were not helpful. A lot of big groups stay here, so while there was a very lovely breakfast it was too crowded so we got coffee and left. Front desk staff is very nice and helpful.
We arrived for 3 nights on April 23. We had some issues with noise in our room early in the morning on the first night. To our pleasure and surprise they refunded the cost for the room and moved us for the next too nights. No questions asked they offered. I have traveled a lot and have never been treated so well. Definitely excellent customer service.
As many others have stated, this hotel is newly renovated. The room is smallish, but certainly adequate. There is lots of desk space and outlets for all of your gadgets. The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave also. The breakfast was good, and the space clean and inviting. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I really liked that there was hot coffee available in the lobby each time I wanted it. It was noisy in the hallway, especially by the elevator where guests often talked loudly. But I enjoyed my visit and if I am ever in the area again and need a place to stay, I would do so again without hesitation.
We needed a hotel midway between Ashburn, VA and DC, which had a free shuttle to the DC metro, and the price was very reasonable for the DC area. When we used the shuttle, we waited less than 5 minutes at either end (not bad!). We were able to walk to a variety of restaurants. Everyone was friendly and helpful. However, the eggs were powdered (other Fairfields use real eggs) and when you enter the hotel room, the bathroom sink is on one side and the rest of the bathroom is behind a door on the left.
I had stayed here a couple of times in recent years when it was a somewhat tired Holiday Inn Express. This was my first stay since the hotel was rebranded as a Fairfield and refurbished. I was very very impressed with the refurb job and the attention to details. Consider these small things... - The desk had 5 available outlets available, all without needing to crawl on the floor or unplug anything. There were also outlets on the sconce lamps on both sides of the bed. - The under-window heat & AC unit had a plastic guard on top, to prevent the fan from blowing the window sheer constantly. - The tub has been replaced with a tub-length shower stall. It's clean and bright, with plenty of shelves and holders for all your soap and toiletries. Speaking of soap, there was both bar soap and shower gel. There is even a small knee-height ledge that the ladies may find useful when shaving legs. - The sink counter is very wide with plenty of space. - The coffee maker now uses K-cups. - Microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Overall, the property was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The wifi was free and reliable. The breakfast is improved, with great variety but only so-so quality. One complaint might be that t he room doors are heavy and slam shut, and that noise from nearby rooms comes in pretty loudly. While I don't recommend visiting Herndon without a car, those who can't or don't want to drive will find this hotel very walkable, with a supermarket right next door, and lots of restaurants within a ten minute walk, some across the street. The hotel also has a free shuttle offering rides in a 3 mile radius.
