The staff were all excellent. The internet was dial up speed and breakfast was the usual waffles plus bulk bin cereal, cut up Costco muffins and bad coffee but the breakfast wasn’t why I was there. Just wanted a comfortable bed for the night in a clean room and that was what I got. The front desk staff in particular were amazing.
I don’t even know where to start. Front desk clerk seems to hate his job. Less than friendly on more than one occasion. Beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were all hard and lumpy. None of us slept well because it was so hot. There was no heat in the room and it was Jan!!! We were dying. The next night we opened the window but still couldn’t get air to flow because the hook which would hold the curtain wasn’t big enough to even hold it in place. The stairs were unavailable due to an above panel of glass that had been shattered at some point. Upon reading reviews it’s been broken since December. People entering the hotel have stand right under the broken panel just to read the sign that says the stairs are off limits. It’s a hotel - fix it people. The elevator was so shady and slow so the stairs were faster. We had my elderly mother with us and we dragged her to the end of the hall (many times a day) and up the emergency stairs after waiting forever for the elevator. Breakfast was fine Pool not heated Everything outdated! Taps and fixtures and carpets. We found wrappers from the last guest under the desk! I’m not usually fussy so long as it’s clean but staying here felt scummy Terrible smell in halls and room. Not sure what it was. There’s no fan in the bathroom so you get all foggy while in there. All that does is highlight all the crap from left behind from other people (cream and hairspray etc) stands out. That was gross. It seems the bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly for awhile. Don’t stand too close to the sink when turning on the tap or you will be wet. Shaw TV limited channels and they all say “to be announced” so you have to guess what’s on by the channel name (BCtv) I know how to navigate Shaw. This wasn’t good. WIFI sucks so badly we all just used our own data None of us will stay here again unless we some renovations were to be done. A small amount of money would go a long way.
I stayed at Travelodge Parksville in December 2017 in order to shorten the drive to Mt Washington. The price was certainly better than accommodation in Courtenay. Upon arrival I was not impressed with the lacklustre greeting from Peter - the check in Agent - as the room had been booked via Expedia he seemed completely disinterested in helping myself and my travelling companions find appropriate adjoining rooms. Secondly, the lobby stairwell was closed off which forced all guests to use the elevator, a minor inconvenience. My children enjoyed the pool and hot tub however I thought the hot tub was excessively hot at least 110° Fahrenheit. Breakfast included with the room was appreciated and a good value. We were told that breakfast started at 0700 however it appeared that the Breakfast was offered a bit earlier than that which helped with getting my family fed and on the way to the ski hill quickly. Overall this is an adequate, basic hotel.
Being a wyndom member we have stayed in motels/hotels all over N America and this Travelodge is by far the best we have experienced-for example- how many hotels offer (make em yourself Belgian waffles for breakfast?
On the plus side, a big room. On the negative side, not much sound insulation. This hotel is appealing to young families because of the indoor pool. Which is why it is not appealing to seniors. Staff were friendly, breakfast was a bit better than continental with a waffle iron. We stayed in December, can only imagine what it would be like in the summertime.
The Travelodge was a nice place to stay. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Peter was very helpful and friendly.
We got caught in a heavy wet snowfall and decided to get off the highway and spend the night in Parksville. We were pleased with the hotel. They had a great pool and hot tub. Lots to choose from for breakfast. The staff were very helpful. The price was very reasonable.
Sadly disappointed with our stay there. Typically Travel Lodge hotels are pretty decent so I thought it was a safe bet. As usual I chose a hotel with a pool and hot tub too. After checking in and heading to our room I noticed a distinct smell of cigarettes in the hallway. I hoped it ended there but no, it was in the room also. The room itself was quite outdated with an old bedspread that was red with yellow walls and 80's furniture. I thought I would make the best of it nevertheless and proceeded to head to the pool. Walked in and immediately noticed the pool area to be quite clean and thought to myself, "now this better...". As soon as my foot hit the pool I knew right away it wasn't heated....in December!! Yet, I still tried too enter the pool....after about 45 seconds up to my waist...teeth chattering I thought, "forget this!!" and got out....onto the hot tub then! Ironically that was set to some unbelieveably hot temperature! So that was out too. I mentioned to the front desk that there was no heat in the pool. A staff member appeared surprised as he said he was sure it was a heated pool. Just an employee so really not his problem though. Would never stay here again.
the room was tatty. the manager was very very rude and yelling at my gf. that hotel is NOT pet friendly at all.
the dogs in hotel were very loud.. i was working nights. pillows were huge not comfortable at all. rooms were clean. staff were friendly. thin walls.
