As always Holiday Inn Express lived up to their reputation. Clean, friendly and well cared for. The staff were well informed about the area and were able to refer us to where we needed to go. Would definetly stay if going there again.
First, I had a reversation and it still took a good 15-20 minutes to get checked in. Their check in time is 3:00 and we got there about 3:30. I was told my room wasn't ready and then about 15 minutes later she said my room was ready. We were traveling with 2 other couples and they were told the same. However, they got rooms that they had not reserved. One of the couples told them no they wanted what they reserved. They gave them keys to another room and when they went to the room people were in it. Inexcusable! The check in process took close to an hour for the 3 couples. The common areas looked as if they had water leaks in the ceiling and the wall covering was coming off. Very tacky! My husband's and my room was on the first floor. Our room had water stains on the ceiling. We had the air conditioner on but it was not taking the humidity out. And we know humidity because we live in Houston. We couldn't sleep. Our sheets felt wet. You could not dry yourself when you showered. It was awful. The crowning touch was when they slipped the receipt for the room under the door. When we picked it up it was so damp, the ink was blurred. Then breakfast, they didn't have their signature cinnamon rolls and the pancake machine didn't work. Overall it was a horrible experience. Stay away from this hotel!
Hotel is within driving distance to restaurants and Super Walmart. Nice room with flat screen tv, refrigerator, and microwave. Free WiFi. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is available in the lobby 24/7. Front desk associates, Trish, Alexis, Vanessa, and Roz are very pleasant and helpful. Alexis gave me some milk from the kitchen one afternoon so that I could take my medication. Trish went above and beyond - provided copier paper so that I could complete my work project. Breakfast hostesses kept breakfast buffet freshly stocked.
I made this reservation for my elderly mother who uses either a cane or walker and suffers from Parkinson's Disease. She arrived late in the evening and was exhausted from a family reunion. She was sent upstairs to a filthy room that had not been cleaned and had to go all the way back down to the front desk. She was then sent to a second room on a different floor and when she opened the door, the room was already occupied! Again, all the way back downstairs. They made her wait for a long time while they hunted all over the hotel for a third room for her. She said the bed was so high that she could barely get into it and it was extremely hard and uncomfortable. I chose this hotel for her because I always stay in Holiday Inns and have never had such a horrible experience and for it to happen to an elderly person with a disability is absolutely unacceptable! By the time the second mess-up occurred, the manager should have been out there trying to help her and apologizing instead of allowing this.
From start to finish, my family and I were provided excellent service. The Hotel was right off the main service road with easy in/out access. The rooms were really nice and the beds were really comfy too.
I called to cancel my reservation a week before my trip due to my grandmother being in the hospital and me needing to stay with her. I called and respectfully requested that they waive the "first night charge" for cancelling since I was only staying one night. They said the manager would have to decide and took my phone number so I could get a call back. No one ever called me and I was not refunded the money. It seems very heartless to require someone to pay out of pocket for a room that is able to be booked by someone else a week in advance when they have a family health emergency occurring. I will not be staying at this location or any other Holiday Inn Express again which is sad because it has always been my family's (including my grandma's) first choice!
I was in Gonzales for a wedding and stayed there May 5, 2017, for one night. The charge appeared on my credit card statement the following day. I was billed again for the same amount on May 22, 2017, although I have not stayed there again. I called the hotel, and the person on the phone was not very friendly, insisted they had only charged me one time, and did not help. I called my credit card company, and they will handle the dispute. I cannot recommend using a credit card at this establishment. My stay on May 5: Check-in was somewhat painful because they had entered the incorrect date for my reservation. Very slow to get through that process. The hotel was relatively clean. I was upgraded to a suite because all the regular rooms were booked. The elevator (just one) is s-l-o-w. The ice machine on my floor was out of order. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the pillows were okay, the water pressure in the bathroom was good. I like the area and would like to return to explore the countryside and historical sites, but I doubt I would stay here again due to the scary credit card issue, and the hotel's unwillingness to assist.
I stayed here two weeks for business. The rooms are fairly quiet and well laid out. They are working on a refurbishment and it is needed. The carpet is worn and dirty. Many things don't function, such as the HVAC in the fitness room. The internet is slow and drops frequently. The people are friendly and trying to do the best they can.
This hotel has been thoroughly updated. Rooms were great and the beds were super comfy. Everything was clean and neat. Free Breakfast was better than most. If I had one gripe, it was the wifi. The wifi speed was some of the best I have had in a hotel but it kept logging us off and making us resign in any time we left a device idle for a couple of minutes. Please fix this problem and then you get five stars.
This relatively new hotel is excellent. The beds are extra comfortable. The staff is accommodating and helpful. They do have a free morning breakfast each day. There are many restaurants nearby. GG's is next door and there is a fine Italian restaurant downtown on the square. Of course, they have all the fast food places as well. We have stayed in both the regular rooms and suites and both are superior for the price.
