Sydney House is a nice little boutique hotel, completely renovated and sparkling. The room was small, as rooms usually are in central London. But the furniture was very nice and modern, the bed was comfortable and the little bathroom was great. The hotel still offered good value for money; room rates are very reasonable for the area (Chelsea), just a few blocks from Kings Road. I would definitely stay here again.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. My rooms were comfortable and clean. I needed to extend my stay unexpectedly, the staff were extremely helpful, flexible and efficient. I would stay here again.
Very impressed to be upgraded to 'The Room at the Top' when management found out we were getting married at the Kensington & Chelsea registry office. The hotel has the smallest lift I have ever been in. Just about fits two persons! Very quirky but very useful when staying on the fifth floor. The room was small but fab. Bathroom very clean with an excellent shower. Bed was comfortable and came with heavenly pillows. Breakfast was served on our private roof terrace. Continental - croissants, toast etc and the coffee was delicious. The staff were delightful and the hotel is perfect for a jaunt to the Kings Road. Wonderful stay! We will be back.
nice, welcoming, fairly large room comparable to other hotels in London, and very sound price. Great location (I visited Royal Brompton hospital) and good connections by the tube. Breakfast was good and served in a very friendly manner.
The location of this hotel is excellent and the initial presentation is impressive, however we found that the drainage in our room was a real problem. It took ages for the sink to drain and on occasions I thought it was going to overflow. Also, it was hard to get cold water to come out of the cold tap! The pipes were quite noisy at night-time, waking us up twice. When we first entered our room there were a couple of black hairs (not ours!) strewn across the seat and the bath. In addition to this, the bathroom door did not close properly and need to be pushed closed with force; my sister also got trapped in the bathroom on one occasion and I had to help her by pushing the door from my side! I was shocked at the price of the breakfasts - £15 for a bowl of porridge! When I mentioned this to someone on the desk, I was told that it comes with 'other things' but these turned out to be a cup of tea or coffee... thankfully there are lots of inexpensive cafes nearby. On the plus side, you are only a four minute walk from South Kensington underground station and you are really near the museums. The location is great, but our room was distinctly unimpressive.
Great little hotel. Service was excellent, bed really comfy and room very quiet despite being in the centre of town. Very accommodating as I booked very late on the day of arrival. Room service prompt. Would definitely return!
Only a short walk away from some of London's best neighborhoods and highly recommended. Spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms with free wifi. Great for business or tourist guests. 24 hour check in which is really useful. I don't know where they get their sausages form but they're delicious!
We stayed at this hotel as my husband was due for early surgery at the Marsden and we live a distance away. I then stayed a further 2 nights alone while he recovered. It is so close to the hospital and meant I could go back and forth easily and there are plenty of places to get meals or a coffee etc nearby as I didn't go down for breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful and made my stay at what was a worrying tinebless stressful. All in all a great hotel and would definitely recommend it.
This hotel promises a lot but sadly fails to deliver it. It's pricing and even the website suggests it's competing with the likes of The Ampersand, Number Sixteen, The Laslett but in reality it struggles to deliver a better hotel experience than a Premier Inn. Sterile room, tiny and no warmth in terms of interior decor, very small. Blinds don't keep light out in the morning. Terrible breakfast. Such a shame as the location is great.
The staff have the communication skills of trappist monks. Not a word of friendly conversation to be had. The vibe of the place is basically 'up itself',and complacent in the extreme. The guests aseem to be seen as an untidy inconvenience, and the breakfast is an expensive joke bordering on insult. 'Sublime Cuisine' (their description, not mine) is not shop bought pancakes served cold with a scattering of fruit pieces. We were the only guests in the breakfast room, and they looked suprised when I told them the pancakes are cold, as if I'm making it up. Unreal. It's not like they were rushed off their feet and somehow my pancakes got sent out in the rush, nope, they just couldn't be bothered to do the job properly. They offered to warm them up (microwave?). The words' 'sublime cuisine' means I expect fresh pancakes, made from batter, fried in a pan, not something cold and leathery out of a pack of 'Tesco's Own Brand' warmed up in a microwave. Hopeless.
