This hotel was such a delight to stay in! Each room themed after a different historical figure; the friendliest staff; and the most adorably decorated common spaces. I felt safe and cared for during our stay. The bathrobes and coffee were such a delightful surprise. I would definitely stay here again if I ever make it out to the UK again! It was a lovely end to our anniversary trip. The location was great in Canary Wharf - not too far from the train! I highly recommend this place!

The hotel is beautiful and the staff were friendly. My room was quiet when I checked in. I had one drink in the bar after a gig and read an art book. It was great. However, at about 1am I heard footsteps upstairs and then there has been a loud vibrating fan/turbine sound. I was Still awake at 4.30 am. My bed and floor and side table were vibrating! It was coming from the adjoining room. Even with ear plugs I couldn’t sleep. Finally got to sleep around 5 am. Woke at 9.30 to the same sound. The fundamental purpose of a hotel is to offer a quiet and safe sleep. After all, the customer is paying for it. So I won’t be able to stay here again. I can still hear it at 10 am. Had a lot of issues with noisy hotels since my birthday this year. I rang reception at 1.50 am and the guy offered to send someone to check my room, but I explained the noise wasn’t coming from my room but an adjoining one. Disappointed as the hotel is beautiful, but I’ve woken tired with a headache. I am currently homeless so having to stay in hotels and they are all expensive at weekends.

I love this hotel. Stuck on Commercial road its easy to dismiss but the building has been stylishly upgraded, staff are lovely and its situated conveniently between Canary Wharfd and the city with the canal basin a few minutes walk away. Also each room has a story, and I love that. From Mary Seacole to George Orwell; brilliant.

My stay was perfect. I stayed 8 nights. The room was immaculate and the staff was great. The hotel is beautiful. Every morning staff came by with coffee or water. I will be back in the Spring and look forward to having breakfast as well as afternoon tea there. It could not have been better. I was in the Dante room which was perfect. I’ll be seeing you again!!!!

Clean room but a lot smaller than expected. Toilet abit dated. Hated the check in… over complicated having to sit and wait to be ‘taken to your room’. Bed comfortable if small. Breakfast was expensive so went elsewhere. Good location for DLR and links but abit too eclectic for my taste.

Kooky hotel but really lovely staff, clean rooms & great breakfast. It definitely is a little weird in terms of decor, but I think it makes the vibe charming. Location is a bit in the midst of nowhere (I had a conference not far so it worked for me), but it's close to the DLR train so easy connection into central London.
