A central location, close to the tube stations and all the central shopping areas. A lovely clean room, with a spotless new looking bathroom. Helpful friendly staff, warm cookies on arrival. I would definitely book this hotel again when visiting London.
Hotel is conveniently located just of Oxford street. Room and bathroom are small and the room equipment doesn't meet standards of similar category hotels in the area. All amenities are really basic (breakfast, bar, gym) so don't expect much if you decide to stay in this hotel.
Fobbed off with a conference room cum bedroom with folding bed and soft mattress. As the bed was a folding one there was a lot of levers and operating mechanisms on one side of the bed and behind it. They did have the grace to move me to another room for the second night!
The hotel is nice, located in centeral area, rooms and good, breakfast is very good, in other words it's a good hotel in good location. BUT We have forgotten some prsonal stuff in on of London theaters which sent it to the hotel. the hotel team did tremendous efforts, way and beyond our expectations, to return our items to us, and for this we are very grateful
Room was OK, but completely unsecured. Window opened full length to landing adjacent to construction site. Room could not be secured, so were downgraded to another room without any compensation. Restaurant was OK, and I think they did try with service.
We usually have two or three weekends in London each year and take the opportunity to get in a show and some retail therapy for the wife. This location is perfect-close to the big stores in Oxford Street whilst being only a short walk to Hyde Park and the West End. We’ve usually stayed in the Amber Hotel Marble Arch but took the opportunity to try the Double Tree which is just across the road. It’s a smaller hotel but similarly priced, however the room can not compare to the Amber. Ours was a double with a really comfortable bed but in a ridiculously small spaced room - if you have any significant luggage you’ll be climbing all over it! The air con was noisy and took and age to find out how to switch it off! We had an inner facing room but found it to be quite noisy at night. Breakfast was the usual fare in a smallish room in the basement. Overall it was worth the try but I doubt we’ll be back and our next visit is likely to be across the road in the Amber.
Pros: 1) The hotel is in a great location. It is one block from the famous Oxford St. where a lot of shops, restaurants and bars are located. 2) The room had big windows and was filled with a lot of natural light. 3) The hotel serves an excellent buffet breakfast daily. 4) The room was clean and the bathroom updated. 4) Staff was very helpful and polite. Cons: The hotel only has 4 floors. Unfortunately, we were located on the first floor. Since the hotel is located near a main road, it was a little noisy. I would recommend staying on a higher floor. 2) The room was very small. We had 3 pieces of luggage and it was a challenge moving around in the room. Overall, I would recommend staying here.
Check in staff, concierge, night staff & breakfast staff all excellent. Check out (as usually in hurry) not so good and even a sorry but in training (assumed as that was why didn't know what to do) Breakfast slightly limited but there was an offer to see if there was anything else that could be got for you, but personally didn't want them too, as just wanted breakfast and to go. Price reflects this part of town needless to say, so in comparison you want it to be 100%.
The concierge was welcoming - it all went downhill from there. The 3 receptionists were all busy so we waited for one to be free (we were next in queue). Another guest came and stood in front of us and was next to be seen, effectively queue jumping. Disappointing that staff did not acknowledge we were there first. Next available receptionist did not look up from her computer once her guest had left, even to say she would be with us shortly, and the concierge had to ask her to serve us. On check in, I was given a form to sign with incorrect contact information - a Spanish address, email address and phone number. When I queried this I was told to cross out the wrong information and write my own details instead! The room was very nice but was like Blackpool illuminations at night, with the smoke alarm on the ceiling flashing and the graphics display on the telephone permanently lit. I had to cover it with a towel to stop the light glaring at us. Walking to and from the lobby during our stay, the staff did not make eye contact from the reception desk, even to say hello. On check out the next day, I was told I hadn't paid. I insisted I had but the receptionist called over a senior staff member who informed me rather bluntly that I hadn't paid and she needed my credit card. I had booked via Amoma and showed her the voucher confirming payment but she insisted on payment. I have since spoken to Amoma who informed me I should not have paid again and that the hotel was wrong to insist on payment. No attempt made by the staff to investigate, just assumed I was trying to pull a fast one. Disappointing, wouldn't expect this from a Hilton!
A nice hotel just adjacent to Oxford street, even though a little away from commercial markets, gives you a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is very supportive. On my first visit, I requested early check in, and on the next visit ,I asked for a room convenient with heavy luggage. They fulfilled my requests on both times. Thank for the kindness.
