This is a lovely hotel with the loveliest staff but the most terrible internet connection I’ve experienced anywhere. Come on get your act together and make our business experience count. I love this hotel but I’m so frustrated by the internet I don’t think I can come back. Real shame
We stayed here on a Saturday evening and found everything just right for our stay. The room was clean, big enough although not huge and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent with all we needed. The location was great, about 10 minutes on the tube from the West End. Parking is available at a charge but book in advance as spaces are limited. The staff were really friendly and helpful at all times. We really could not fault our stay.
We spent two nights in this nice hotel. Everyone at the reception was so kind and always available. Room was a little bit small for the four of us, and fan was not working in the bathroom, however it was clean and confortable. Standard english breakfast was offered, overall it was a great balance between quality and good price.
We had an enjoyable two night stay here. The room was fine, overlooking the rear of the hotel. The bed was firm but comfortable and we found the temperature okay, but we did not have the option to make the room warmer or cooler as a metal plate had been screwed onto the wall so that guests can not access the heating control. The bathroom was fine and the shower very good, shower gel nice too. We got a call before we went out on day two, asking if we wanted the room cleaned (because we had put the do not disturb sign on the door), we said no but fresh towels and more tea and coffee would be good, these were dropped off within minutes by a staff member. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, with my partner going down to the bar / lounge area each morning to pick up some toast, bacon and scrambled eggs for us both. This made for a lovely relaxed breakfast and the staff didn’t seem to mind (or notice). The bar / lounge area looks very modern and nice. We don’t usually stay here as even though we come to London a lot, we find better rates elsewhere, but the location of this place is fantastic, with transport links at Finchley Road tube opposite the hotel (Metropolitan and Jubilee lines) and multiple bus routes stopping on Finchley Road. There is also the 02 Centre opposite with shops and restaurants. Think we will be back soon!
We stayed there on Saturday night. There was 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. We were for the Spurs game at Wembley. Firstly the location is perfect for Wembley. Its only one stop on the tube from Finchley road station which is only a really short walk from the hotel. There is also a shopping centre across the road that has a cinema , shops, restaurants and a supermarket. Check in is at 2pm and was very straight forward. The staff were very friendly. The room itself is very comfortable. It had a double bed and and sofa bed. The TV was brilliant too and had lots of stations. There is also a 24 hour bar in the hotel. My only issue with the hotel was the Wi-Fi. We found this patchy if i'm honest. Not always working, but thats only a small issue for us. The room was really clean, there was loads of towels and pillows and the shower was really hot and powerful. The breaskfast was a buffet style with hot food and also cereals provided. It was really tasty and a great start to the day. Check out was very straight forward too. Overall i would rate this hotel very highlyand would stay here again. I would also recommend it to friends or family too.
We missed the last train and arrived to get any room. So, the staff was very friendly and helpful- got nice , clean room. The breakfast was usual English- scrambled eggs, sausages, plus muesli. Everything was good, except the mouse under the table :)))).
We are a family of four (with two young teenagers) and have traveled extensively in the US and a fair amount abroad. We travel light, use public transportation as much as possible, like slightly more adventurous travel, and are accustomed to budget accommodations. We stayed here 4 nights during a vacation in London (first time in London). The hotel location is excellent. The Finchley Road Station is at most a 5 minute walk from hotel door to platform. Downtown London is a 14 minute tube ride. There are many good, reasonable priced restaurants within a 5 minute walk and a grocery store located a cross the street (Sainsburys). Diamond Laundry, a self serve laundromat, is located 2 blocks away - it was open until 7:30PM (late enough to do laundry one evening). Breakfast was good. It was a solid English breakfast. The self serve buffet included scrambled eggs, english bacon, sausage, beans, bread, croissants, cereals, and fruit. The food was well prepared and tasty. The room was very small. According to my research, most rooms in London are small, so this might be the norm for this area. Four people and four carryon bags was tight. There was alot of moving bags around each evening and morning as we got ready. The bathroom was also small, but was very efficient in it's layout. Our room was equipped with a full size bed and sofa bed. The full size bed was very good. The sofa bed was not usable by two people. The sofa bed sagged in the middle causing the two people to roll into the center. We solved the problem by removing the sofa bed mattress from the frame and placing it directly on the floor for the duration of our stay. On the floor, the 4 inch thick mattress was firm but comfortable. The room was clean and modern. Staff was friendly. Wifi was good the first night and terrible the following three nights. Normal webpages would take minutes to load, if they loaded at all. Wifi speeds were much better at the end of our hall and in the lobby (although the speeds were never better than average that we've experienced other hotels). I alerted the front desk staff after the first night of slow speeds and was told that sometimes during the evening when everyone was surfing they would experience slow speeds (not consistent with our observations that the slow speeds appeared to be isolated to our room). Additionally, they'd request their IT tech to reboot the system to see if it would make a difference (if they did, it didn't make a difference). Our room was on the back of the hotel (not facing the street). We could leave our window open and have very little city noise. With the window closed the room was very quiet.
Stayed a couple of nights and the hotel is definitely in need of a renovation. Starting with the beds, they were simply not good and the rest of the furniture, bathroom were all old. The breakfast was good though and its location is very close to the tube and has very good connections.
Stayed here for a night, got a weird story about how they needed ID that they kept for 5 years and it was the law they had to take it! Room was poor, to hot and you had to call reception to alter the room temp which did nothing. TV didn’t work and shower was hardly clean. Room was not set up for a couple rather a family!
We stayed at this hotel for five days. It was reasonably priced, clean, the breakfast was good, and it was very quiet at night. Once or twice the room-service staff forgot to top up the toilet paper or tea bags, but that was the only problem, if you can call that a problem. I'll definitely stay there again if I go to London. It's also worth mentioning the fact that the tube, Finchley Rd, is just across the road. Moreover, there's a good, old-fashioned pub, The North Star, a short walk from the hotel.
