Basic hotel but clean and more than adequate. The staff are very friendly and very polite. The breakfast is more than adequate too. It's a basic place to stay not a luxury hotel and for the price it's really good value.
It was a week ago since we left London and I am still wondering how did we stay in this hostel (yes, I cannot characterize this terrible place as a hotel) for 4 days. Actually, I have no words to describe this dump but I will try... Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews before booking. So when we arrived at the hostel, I almost fainted of how dirty it was. The room that they gave us was at 2nd floor: a hutch 2m x 2m with no window. Walls were dirty and moldy and so thin that we could hear everything from the other rooms. We complained and we changed room. Our new room was at the last floor and there were NO LIFT!! It was also mold and dirty but at least it had a window. The bathroom was so small and also dirty that we couldn't enjoy a shower after our longwalks in London. And note: no amenities! The breakfast was basic, ok this is not a problem. The problem was the two RUDE ladies who washed the dishes by hand and you could see the stains on the plates, glasses and mugs... really disgusting! These two ladies were also "cleaning" the rooms. You should see the buckets at the corridors: the water they used to mop the floors was black!!! The sheets were also dirty and full of hair... Last but not least, we had a problem with our credit card upon our arrival at the hostel and they charged us (by our mistake) for 2 more nights. We realized that when we returned home and till now I am trying to reach them on phone and email but NO RESPONSE! Please try to call at the given phone 00442073732044 or write them an email. You will never take an answer. I have been staying to a lot of hotels and this is the first time that I feel like that. Ok, someone can admit that "you get what you pay for" but when you pay 80-90pouns per night your expectations include at least a CLEAN room with the cheapest amenities!
First of all I was at the hotel's reception at 11.00 am and my room wasn't available yet. What is more when I checked in and stayed in my room, it wasnt clean at all. The wall was dirty and it had blood stains as well as the blanket. Last but not least, I saw a mouse in the breakfast room and in the yard too. The latter is absolutely unacceptable. For all those reasons i left the room on day earlier. I may claim for a full refund. My advice is never stay there.
I booked this as it was near to Hyde Park through booking.com where the reviews weren't too bad. After booking (which was non refundable) I read the reviews on here and was very worried about what I would find. I went with a completely open mind and was pleasantly surprised. Yes, some parts of the hotel are old and worn, the rooms small and no carpet (in our room at least), but it was en-suite which for me is a must (with toilet and shower). There were no kettles etc in the room, but it was freely available in the basement room throughout the day for you to help yourself. The continental breakfast each morning was lovely with plenty to eat (cereals, yogurts, ham, cheese, bread, croissants and plenty of filter coffee. The tables were perhaps not the best type of thing to have in a hotel but they were functional. You do have to be willing to sit and eat with others. The bed was really comfortable with fairly new mattresses, and towels were provided. We were only there for 2 nights but our room was cleaned which again I didn't expect. Talking to someone who stays regularly at the hotel, it does depend on which room you get allocated as to the standard you will find. (Its an old house that has been converted). There is no lift and the stairs are quite steep, so if you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you to stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The biggest fault that I found was the doors were hung on heavy closures which people tended to go through and let them close themselves which caused a lot of noise constantly as people returned to there room. This was particularly a problem through the night during our stay with people coming back at 2 and 3 am. Overall for the price we paid (approximately £120 for the 2 nights) for an en-suite room with air conditioning and breakfast in central London, is a good price and as long as you don't have too high an expectation, it will serve you well.
After booking this hotel, I read the reviews and my heart dropped. I thought we were in for staying in a small, dirty hotel with rude staff. This was not the case. The room was tiny and the ensuite was cramped, but it was clean and what you expect for the cheap price of the hotel. The fact that breakfast is included is an added bonus. If we had been staying in London for longer than two days it would have been too small, however, as a cheap hotel for a short stay it was perfect.
Arrived at the hotel for 5 days. The room was not available. Had to stay in the hotel across the street for 2 days in a room that could not fit my bag just to give an idea. Than I moved to the hotel itself: dirty, no lift, bad management that knocked on my door 10pm to sign a form that they forgot to ask upon checkin. Avoid if you can. Note: I have stayed in more than 10 budget hotels in London last year.
The hotel is cheap, but filthy and worn down. Found nails on the floor, stains on the walls around the bed and sticky stuff in the curtains. No dishwasher in the kitchen. The woman who clared the tables after breakfast washed up by hands, wich you could see on the dirty coffecups they gave you in the morning.
This is the worst hotel I have been to in my life. It is so dirty and the room was filled with flies. When I asked to cancel my booking, the staff lied to me. They said they will only take a one night fees and refund the rest; which they never did. They ripped me off.
Stayed here for two nights recently with hubby as we were in London for a concert but if anywhere else was available we would have changed hotels. Stayed in a double room with ensuite. Rooms are tiny and not the cleanest. walls could have been doing with being cleaned/painted as one had specs of blood on! Our room was right next to the breakfast area and shared toilet so no chance of a lie in, you can hear everything! The rating I've given is for the air conditioning which was the only decent thing about it
Small hotel, no lift, but a wounderful welcoming and very friendly service. Very clean. Very good quality/price rate for an hotel in London. Perfect location, close to Underground and Bus stops. Quiet street.
