We went to Camden Lock because we like the area. We were not very impressed from the first moment. They asked for a lot of information at check in, and staying in different places quite often is the first time they are requesting to us so many things. The room was a standard room, I have to say that bed nd pillows were comfy but the room was cold. I’m out way out we mentioned it in reception and apparently they have the thermostat there (one for the whole hotel) ... and the receptionist just move the wheel to show us... it was weird have one controled from reception. Aah... if you leave the hotel you have to leave the key in reception and collect it on your way back ... At 12/12:30 the fire alarm went off for 2 times, and when I called reception to know what happened she said it was a false alarm. In the morning we didn’t have hot water for a long time until we decided to call reception and suddenly the hot water started to run, same as the bedroom heater, so we thought that again the turn the wheel on from reception. Bit disappointed, don’t think we are going back.
I recently booked to stay at the Camden Lock Hotel as I have bought a ticket to go to a concert at the Roundhouse. As my friends were unable to come with me I due to work commitments I took the decision to go on my own as I really wanted to see the artist. I booked this hotel as it was very close to the Roundhouse and reasonable priced. My train tickets are booked and I'm travelling from Northumberland and don't know the area in London at all. I have just received an email from the hotel to say that they are closing permanently on 11th December and my booking has been cancelled. I am so furious, worried and stressed about my trip and now have to look for another hotel nearby which is £180. They must have know when I booked as it was very long ago. Not happy.
Had a wonderful stay. Clean room, perfect firmness mattress. Professional, helpful and friendly reception team. Enjoyed full English breakfast, prompt service and a lovely atmosphere. Recommend for family visit as well as sightseeing due to location.
I was going to a concert in the Roundhouse and the location of the hotel can’t be faulted as it is literally across the road from the venue (to the left) and you can see Chalk Farm underground pretty much as soon as you come out the hotel door to the right. As we approached the hotel I must admit I thought we may have made a mistake booking it as it’s right next to a noisy pub and the entrance to the hotel is down a side street and you have to press a buzzer to be gained access. On entering the hotel we were greeted promptly and although a bit early to check in we were seen to and given our key before official check in time of 3pm. We were offered the choice to add breakfast t our stay but declined as had an early start. We were lucky to be given a room on the first floor as there didn’t appear to be a lift and the stairs would have been tough going with bags had we been any further up. The walls had marks on them, the carpets looked grubby and the floor appeared to be uneven as we walked towards our room and again thought we had made a mistake by staying there. We opened the door to our room fearing the worst and to our surprise the room was clean, exactly what we asked for (twin room), extremely comfortable beds, hairdryer, free WiFi, kettle with tea/coffee and a nice shower and tv on the wall. You are given one key to the room and are advised to hand it in every time you leave the hotel (reception open 24/7) and are given a card with your card number on it which you must show before you get the room key which suited us as we were going separate ways for the evening. So the moral of my trip was don’t judge a hotel from the outside as this hotel is actually a gem and with a Sainsbury’s just down the road you can get some juice/treats etc too.
My friend and I stayed here last night. Pleasant surprise :) The room was lovely and clean. 2 single beds... which were very comfy. Bathroom was lovely, clean towels, and little toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities were also in the room. This hotel is perfect location to all amenities in Camden. Tube station is across the road, and all shops bars restaurants and markets on doorstep too. Camden market is an absolute MUST! We also had a voucher for breakfast in the morning.. which was also lovely. Would i stay here again??? YES! :)
In Camden for a concert at The Roundhouse. This hotel could not be better positioned especially if you have one of the rooms overlooking Chalk farm road as this means you can monitor the queue to get in and join it when it is at a reasonable length. The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly and the small but adequate room was spotless. Breakfast is served in the coffee shop downstairs and is once again, adequate. The only concern I have is that £170 for one night in a basic budget hotel is a bit steep! Still; needs must I suppose.
This hotel is a 3 minute walk from Chalk Farm underground station and a 10 minute walk from Camden lock, stables market and Camden market. The staff are very helpful and friendly-this makes the hotel. The rooms are basic but have all the amenities required for a short stay- shower gels, soft towels, tea making facilities and clean bathroom. No wardrobes, just some hangers on a rail. Traffic noise as expected from a busy street, but we had windows shut so noise was minimised. No lifts so beware if you have heavy cases to carry up the stairs.
Booked this hotel via last minute.com for my husbands birthday. Staff were amazing , they upgraded us to an executive room which was huge. The room had complimentary water, nespresso machine, kitkats and a wooden portrait block of Camden. The bed and pillows were so comfy and we slept like babies. The hotel is an ideal location right by Camden Lock and Camden market . We had a great time and would book again.
£444 for 4 nights for what??? To be greeted by sour faced staff, the room was quite small but it did us for what we wanted. The bed is small but at least comfy........if you can actually sleep....!!! Its right on a street corner with a noisy pub across the road....loud late night noise, sirens every 5 minutes, whoever was upstairs didn't help with there concrete slippers.....helicopter constantly above up...and this is with the windows closed!!! As for breakfast....WELL.......it hasn't got its own breakfast bar...you go downstairs to the public cafe with a voucher so they know you are a guest. The staff need lessons in customer service, trying to explain I'm vegan and just want a couple of items was terrible......they didn't really understand English, our last breakfast there on the Thursday because we weren't touching it on the Friday was under cooked bacon on my husbands full English and mine.....get this...was a dried up veggie sausage,HALF a mushroom,ONE hashbrown and a spoonful of beans........never again.....and it doesn't help because there isn't much out in the high street to go to early......the Stables don't open till mid morning. The only really smiley memeber of staff was the chambermaid.......we hope she enjoyed the half litre of Bacardi we left for her!!!! And no.......there is no bar!! The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the fact it's right across the road from Chalk Farm Tube Station which makes life easy for getting around but apart from that, the chambermaid and the comfy bed........swerve it....!!!
Stayed for two nights from 11/9/17 in a twin room. Found the hotel very welcoming and exactly what we booked. Reception were very helpful and check in and out were quick. Breakfast is only £6 each for full English if you don't have breakfast included like us. Location is great with a little noise from below but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a city hotel. Beds were comfy and facilities were just what we needed, only down side is that this hotel doesn't have a lift and has three floors. I'd definitely use this hotel again.
