Much like the rest of Jasper, this hotel is in need of a revamp. Everything appears dated and a bit tired. It was clean and the staff were friendly enough but that is not enough to make me want to come back.
Cons: The place is old and a bit worn down. Pros: The rooms are big, there is a sitting area with a microwave and fridge, and a separate bedroom with a door to separate it from sitting area. Each area has its own TV. The hotel has a restaurant attached, I think it’s independently run, that offers a breakfast buffets about 20$ CD, not great but not bad. Seems like the hotel gets a lot of buses and groups
Had three nights here and enjoyed every minute of it. The room was great and the housekeeping staff had done a great job of both preparing it and looking after the room while we were there. The pool and hot spa were fantastic. So nice to relax in both the inside and the outside spa. Also good to be able to get all our laundry done on site. We also checked our luggage early after arriving on the train and then were able to book in an hour early to get ready for our evening wildlife tour. Thank you for a wonderful stay Lobstick.
The place was spacious and clean. The pool was nice with both and indoor and outdoor hot-tub. The rooms don’t ba e air conditioning so that does show the age of the place. An other thing that shows the age of the place would be the noise you can hear with the water running in the pipes. But overall it was a nice place for Jasper
Room was big and nice, very good bed. Bathroom very small, no space for personal stuff. No restaurant, only for breakfast. Coffee shop only open in the morning. Nice friendly and helpful staff. Location is OK close to everything without being in the center.
Had a 2 night stay here. Location is near other hotels and approx 5-10 minutes walk to town shops. Rear of hotel is close to start of many walking trails. Rooms were older style but larger than many and quite comfortable. No aircon for cooling, but heating for colder season. Windows can be opened. On the downside the room did not have a safe, and the onsite restaurant was closed, although buffet breakfast was available in dining room. This is a large hotel with many rooms, over 3 levels. Also has a nice indoor pool, sauna and spa, as well as an outdoor spa. Also has a very basic exercise room. We had a comfortable stay and a good nights sleep. Also has guest laundry for $2 per wash and $2 per dry.
Whilst the Lobstick is a little dated from the decor, the staff are really helpful and it is super close to the centre of town. The room was well appointed and even though it was a little warm, the fan in the room helped.
We enjoyed our stay & had no complaints with the room. We had a large, clean bedroom, which had 2 double beds, with separate dining/kitchen area with everything you could need if you wanted to cook a meal. The bathroom was plenty big enough too. We found enough sockets to charge our devices. We didn't eat in the hotel preferring to walk into town to try the many restaurants that Jasper has to offer. The coaches do start arriving outside quite early, but that didn't worry us.
I stayed at the Lobstick as part of a tour. It is situated a few blocks from downtown, with a cluster of several other hotels. It is pretty much your standard double room, but relatively spacious and quiet. It's an older hotel but seems to have been well maintained. There is no AC (apparently not many hotels have it) but a portable oscillating fan is provided and it came in handy. One update suggestion would be to increase the number of outlets for the many charging cords, since this room could conceivably have 4 guests. There are several dining options nearby and more if you choose to walk a few blocks into town. After getting wet on a raft trip, I found out there was a washer and dryer on the bottom floor. I can't speak to value because this was part of a tour. I would stay here again.
Hotel was a good location, easy walk to Jasper town. But it has seen better days, the decor seems like it hasn’t changed in a few decades. The fittings were a bit old too, the wall sockets were so loose that anything plugged into them would end up half hanging out. No safe in the room, plus when we returned to our room in the middle of it being cleaned there was no check to make sure we were the occupants. Hotel breakfast was a bit overpriced for the continental option, without as many options as you’d expect for the price.
