Onsen experience was great, also liked using body creams and lotions provided at the onsen. Food at the buffet restaurant was good. Room was quiet and beds were comfortable. Massage therapist was very good as well.
In-room onsen was amazing. Had to rinse it off first though because it looked pretty worn and had leaves and a few insects in it. No issues though. Felt amazing in the onsen. Way better than having to use the public one and had a great outdoor view of Mt Fuji in the background. Outdoor shower had way better pressure than bathroom shower.
Great onsen with a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji. Hotel needs some updating.
Great Location. Very short walk to bus and ripeway. Great onsen. Due to weather reason, we did not see Mount Fuji, but still a lovely stay. Will sure to visit again in the future.
Getting to this hotel was quite an adventure as you have to take several varieties of transportation to get there. If you are bagless, this won’t be an issue. Use takuhaibin to forward your luggage or simply bring a light carry on for an enjoyable trek to the hotel. The hotel itself is located a few minutes hike (and I do mean hike as in walking a rocky - but pleasant -path so don’t wear heels) from the Ubako ropeway Station. The hotel itself is lovely with beautiful gardens. It is a bit older and showing its wear in some spots. The restaurant is buffet-style but delicious. They offered a variety of traditional Japanese dishes. Some of the translations were strange but being an English speaker I appreciated the translations even if some were unflattering names. Our room was exquisite! We had the Japanese style room with private open air onsen and it was absolutely amazing. If I could spend every night in a room like that, I would be beyond happy. There were only a few minor complaints: 1. The AC did not work well (which for us didn’t matter much because it was pretty mild weather while we were there. 2. There is a pretty musty smell in the room but keep in mind you are near the sulfur vents. 3. The open air baths do not use the hot spring water that Hakone is known for. They do, however, give you a complimentary packet to put in the open air tub to use. There is really nothing more wonderful than a private open air onsen and for the price we paid, I’m happy!
My husband and I stayed here for one night during our honeymoon in Japan -- we had a really enjoyable time. It provided us with a fun Japanese experience, including sleeping on traditional futons, wearing yakatas (traditional robes) to dinner and viewing Mt. Fuji from the onsen (hot springs).
