Beautiful property, great restaurant and very helpful staff. After staying in an oversized closet in Tokyo, the room at Laforet seemed especially huge. Just a great stay! I’m
This was bad experience. On the first night I decided I would go to the Onsen (hot spring). Sadly when I entered the onsen the wooden step was broken and I fell and hit my back very hard! I hurt my back because they had a broken step. That was very dangerous and ruined my trip. I told the staff in the front and the male English speaking receptionist did not care and smiled when I told him about what happened. I am still in pain and my trip was less pleasurable due to this. I am going to the doctor to check my back! Dangerous, unsafe, and the English speaking male staff was unhelpful.
The AC never got the room cool enough. The shower head fell off the hose constantly, even after I asked the staff to repair it. The windows and screens were too dirty to open.
Great room, great value, good view, decent location, decent onsen. They have a large indoor public onsen and a small outdoor public onsen. I would have preferred a larger outdoor public onsen, but it was very nice nonetheless.
Classy place to stay. The staff is so kind. They actually wiped the wheels on my luggage clean! Amazing service. Breakfast was delicious and excellent selection of Japanese and western food. Onsen was nice. Things to improve: - room could be cleaner. Found a fingernail clipping on counter. Otherwise felt clean in general.
We came here on a day when it was snowing. We got snowed in soon after we checked in. Despite multiple people checking in early, we were not allowed to go into rooms until 3 PM. Hence, the hotel lobby was completely packed. We literally sat around from 10 AM until 3 PM before we could check in. Since all transportation was canceled due to the snow, we could not leave the hotel to grab lunch and the hotel’s restaurant was not open for lunch. Eventually, they made an announcement in Japanese that there was some food being served but did not bother to make the announcement in English for the non-Japanese guests. It was almost as if they went out of their way to not update the non-Japanese speaking guests. In addition, when There was a city wide announcement about all transportation being shutting down for the day, hotel staff made an announcement in Japanese to all the guests awaiting to check in in Japanese but did not bother to update the non-speaking Japanese guests either. We were stuck eating An overpriced dinner with the hotel that did not have a vegetarian friendly menu. Overall, hotel stay was a horrible experience. The only thing that was good about this hotel was the room itself and private hot spring tub. I will not be staying here again in the future.
Loved the cleanliness (you have to take your shoes off when you get to the hotel and they wipe down your luggage!) and the cozy feeling of this place. Our private in-room onsen was amazing! The food at the restaurant was fun fusion-style. Such a nice and relaxing getaway in the middle of our trip to Japan - the BEST pillows we have ever slept on (we even asked the staff if they were available for purchase, but sadly they were not)! Wish we had stayed longer! We would definitely recommend this hotel and we hope to be back!
We got Rm 203 (on the main floor) which had a private outdoor onsen bath. Everything about the hotel (location, room, staff, etc) was wonderful. We just wish they have an electronic form of communication such as email so that it would be easier to arrange for the hotel's free shuttle service to pick up guests when arriving at Hakone Gora Station
We enjoyed our stay here quite a bit and highly recommend it to those looking for a place that has private open air onsen. They do not serve dinner in your room like traditional Ryokans and at the price they charge for dinner, I can't say I recommend eating dinner at the hotel.
