Location is good if you're looking for somewhere to stay city centre. Pleasant receptionist, helpful with luggage, although the lift can be a bit of a trial. The first room we were taken to smelled strongly of smoke, we asked to be moved to another one. Second room had two wall lights not working and the light over the bathroom mirror not working. We didn't notice the wall lights were out till we got back later and it was dark. We did report the bathroom light to reception before we went out and were assured that it would be fixed, it wasn't. Tried to have a drink before lunch in the bar downstairs, with no luck. No staff on duty, someone was asked to step in but couldn't locate the gin??? We gave up. The rooms and bathrooms are small and poky, both need upgrading. Beautiful old building but we wouldn't stay again.
Good: Very central location, old building nicely renovated to keep old charm, big rooms with super high selling. Bad: Payment at arrival. I asked if it was possible to check out one hour later (12 instead of 11 am) but the staff at the reception was somewhat unfriendly and only allowed 30 minutes more. In the end I had to rush.
I arrived at the hotel quite tired. I asked for a quiet room and that was what I was given. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated and the bed is comfortable. There's a nice selection of teas and coffee along with some tasty biscuits complementary in the room. I was very happy to soak in the bath tub also. I never ate in the hotel restaurants but the menus read quite well. The reception staff are also very helpful and friendly.
We popped in for drinks mid week before an early evening meal . We were made very welcome and enjoyed some pre dinner drinks in a beautiful setting. This was our first visit, but won’t be our last. The menu looked good, so would certainly consider eating here next time too.
After staying for a night in the past at ABode Glasgow i thought i will book it for a second time. The room was not up to standards set. Dusty and small. Broken iron board with a 15-20 minutes wait for a new one. Not worth the value of the price I paid.
Stayed in the Fabulous Suite. Very spacious and many period features in the room. Although facing onto busy Bath St it was so quiet and the huge bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Complimentary goodie box with crisps, nuts etc coffee machine but also a kettle for tea lovers like me. All other facilities as you'd expect inc robes, slippers, iron etc. Roll top bath and separate shower in an immaculate bathroom. Breakfast served in the brasserie with plenty of choice and beautifully presented. Staff efficient, friendly and helpful. My only small criticism was that our room wasn't ready on our arrival - I'd specified the time when I'd booked - a complimentary drink would have been welcomed while we waited in the bar, considering we were paying quite a premium for the hotels best suite.
We arrived at hotel & were informed there was no water due to a fire from a nearby nightclub & fire Services had emptied the reservoirs. All receptionists & front of house staff couldn't have been more helpful & informative in trying to find us alternative accommodation in the City Centre, Ended up we stayed in Abode as the water came back slowly & we were so glad we did. Room was lovely & breakfast was delicious. All staff went that extra bit to help the guests, which I found very comforting. We will definitely return.
Rooms are good with limited drawer space / wardrobes . Bathroom was ok but showers could be more powerful But rooms are very clean Food is awesome. Reception are very helpful and try to help you. Breakfast may start at 0700. But they are still setting up at 730. Full breakfast is amazing.
When we arrived there was virtually no water supply due to a massive fire nearby. The reception staff could not have been more helpful or understanding. We stuck it out (as they did) with a brave face - a hotel with no running water is a challenge. Once things got back to normal we thoroughly enjoyed this well located and individual hotel. However housekeeping could be better - eg returned 1600 to a room still to be made up.
We came to stay in Glasgow to visit friends and explore the city - and chose this hotel based on great reviews and a location that suited us perfectly. Unfortunately, shortly before our trip I broke my foot and was on crutches with a cast, so we were concerned that would affect the trip BUT, the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome. The receptionist gave us a ground floor room before we even asked (even though there is a lift!) and showed us how to get into the hotel without using the main steps at the front. The room was gorgeous, so so spacious and the coffee machine was beautiful! We spent some time in the bar, and found the staff there to be great too. Overall, a great stay - thankyou!
