The hotel is really comfortable and clean. Breakfast is excellent and has a great price. The room is cosy clean and comfortable. Staff is really helpful, kind and always interested in your experience. The only thing worth mentioning is that there is a construction in the back of the hotel which is very noisy and will keep you up starting at 3:45am. We asked for a room change and Sandra in the front desk helped us which made our stay neatly perfect.

Reception person was not particularly helpful on arrival especially as we did not take up the breakfast up-sell! Standard room size is OK, but shower is quite narrow 800mm - view from the back rooms is onto the rubbish bins.

The only negative thing I can say is that the breakfast was affected by the worst coffee I have had in a hotel in ages. It was watery and weak and just lukewarm. Both coffee machines were the same poor quality and delivered the same crummy coffee every morning for the four breakfasts we were there. Otherwise, everything else was excellent with this property.

What an amazing stay! Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and the location of the hotel is perfect to travel by foot to New Town and the castle. Definitely recommend!

Very conveniently located for everything you would want to see and do in Edinburgh. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made a couple of recommendations and arranged for our cab to the airport. Also we arrived early in the morning and weren't able to check in, so they held our bags for us and did their best to have our room ready as early as possible.

Spent 3 nights there and not once did we have a working shower. We kept bringing the issue to the attention of the front desk and the on-site manager, and the issue was never fixed for the entirety of our stay. Until the morning of check-out we were never offered an alternate room, and even obtaining a courtesy room to shower in - of which we ended up needing 3 - always felt like a struggle. The only compensation we received for our inconvenience and stress was a 15% discount on our fee. I emailed a complaint to the operations manager of the hotel and haven’t received a response. Completely unacceptable and I would never recommend staying at the Leonardo Royal to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
