Room was clean, felt dated however. Over complicated impractical light switches that were very temperamental. Massively lacking plug sockets especially by the bed, much akin to a Travelodge rather than a hotel pursuing something more upmarket. Relatively comfortable bed, awful pillows.

Loud beeping went on all night and couldn’t sleep due to this. It sounded like a faulty fire alarm or similar alarm. Lights don’t all go off due to some of switches being broken. In my opinion, keeping fish confined in a hotel room feels cruel and unnecessary. I would strongly encourage the hotel to reconsider this practice, as many guests may feel the same way. I found the presence of a fish tank in the room upsetting. I personally believe it’s cruel to keep fish confined in tanks, especially in a hotel environment where they may be exposed to noise, light, and frequent guest turnover. This detracted from my stay. Fish are living animals kept in confined spaces purely for decoration. I hope the hotel will reconsider this and move toward more humane design choices. The poor fish are exposed to lights that do not go off. I note from previous pictures that it appears to be different fish which looks like they do not live long in this environment

What a wonderful hotel in a fantastic location with lovely staff. The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and the best bathtub ever. You're a block away from the action (perhaps too much action?) of Princes Street, with fab shopping, food, coffee, and pubs just put the door. Everyone we met working at Le Monde was so kind and helpful. We highly recommend staying there!

Hotel is nice and comfortable with good size rooms and nice bathrooms. Location is fantastic - we were one block away from the Christmas markets - literally a 3 minute walk. Also situated next door to The Dome. Nice and pleasant stay in a great area.

Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Room was great. Unfortunately there was no hot water on the first morning but receptionist most apologetic. No one's fault in the hotel but the noise from outside throughout the first night was horrendous - no sound proofing at all in New York Junior Suite - better on the second night. Apparently a student night on the Wednesday so would avoid that day if I was coming again.

Quirky hotel with unique rooms. Comfy bed and great bathroom facilities. Unfortunately, the rooms look onto a nightclub entrance / smoking area - so you can expect a lot of noise and a less than peaceful sleep, particularly if staying at weekend. Additionally, the bathroom flooded during our stay. As it was late at night, we see the point in complaining as doubt it would be feasible to change rooms and just went to bed. By morning, it had worsened and getting ready to leave was a challenge. I notified the receptionist of the problem on check out and received no apology for the inconvenience caused - merely a thanks of acknowledgement for reporting the problem. These issues turned an otherwise good stay into a pretty poor experience.

Good place to stay in Edinburgh

Overall I enjoyed my stay, but I wouldn’t necessarily stay again. One morning there was no hot water. The lamps in the room (Beijing room) are all kind of wonky and should be replaced. And I was kinda surprised the TV wasn’t a smart tv, I would have preferred to log in to my own apps at night. The location is great, the bed was fairly comfortable and enjoyed the large bathtub.
