Great location off the beaten path but still close enough to walk to all the major attractions!

Water was coming up for the shower while we used, The faucet on the shower change the water temperature hardly, very dirty walls.

The hotel was amazing. Breakfast was tasty. The shower was great; water was hot enough and the water pressure was decent. Everything was clean. I would definitely stay again.

The hotel staff were welcoming, accommodating and friendly. It became a second home for the week!

Super friendly and helpful staff! From the restaurant to concierge and maintenance, everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating.

Very nice facility, customer service was lacking. Room was extremely hot due to no A/C, which is understandable, but we couldn't open the windows more than two inches. They finally brought up a small fan which helped some. Our hot water didn't work and the desk person kept saying just turn it all the way to hot. Duh. After callind twice, they sent someone up to " show us how to use it" and lo and behold, it wasn't working. They then said we could go down to the first floor and take a shower in a vacant room. When I asked if we could just move to that room, they acted as if this would be a big problem but eventually agreed. The room on the first floor ended up being cooler, which made us happy.

Needs more electrical outlets. Not up to date with current device needs. Otherwise nice hotel

The only thing I would have changed about the room was the sound-proofing. We checked several times so see if a window was open because the street sounds were quite loud. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay. The room was very comfortable and the location is superb.

The Concierge was incredible, the location was hard to beat. Hotel was right near the Royal Mile but quiet and relaxing. We will return!

The room was cheerful, cosy and well appointed. We found it odd that UK hotels all seem to not supply facecloths and ice is obtained from the bellboy. But this is not only at this hotel. The only true negative was that if you didn't purchase the full breakfast you couldn't enjoy eating it there as there was no ala carte breakfast option. Staff were very helpful with loaner umbrellas and were curbside the minute our cab pulled up (in the pouring rain!)

Great location just off beaten path but very quiet with convenient access ability to Hop on Hop off buses n within walking distance of the Castle n shopping areas. All be it an upward hike. Quietness and cleanliness make it a great place to stay. Unless you want to be in the middle of the action/noise. A must stay.

The staff knew who we were before we told them, which made the stay even nicer. Everyone was so helpful and polite. I believe we will stay there on our next visit.

The staff was wonderful. They were all kind, helpful and willing to talk about the love of their city. My cousin and I had a wonderful time, enjoyed the visit, the food and the people.

Macdonald Holyrood is a very comfortable hotel with a great location. It is right around the corner from the Royal Mile and the Holyrood Palace. It is clean, quiet, and the bed is very comfortable.

This was a great place to finish off a two week cruise of the Baltic and North Sea. The location is not in the center of town, but close enough - across from the Hollyrood Palace and Park, as well as walking trails. This proved to be a very good thing as the Fringe Festival made any location closer to the town center much less desirable (if you like to sleep through the night). The property is well managed, elegant without being stuffy, and the service was excellent.

Staff was absolutely perfect. Room was very nice, expensive, but quite good.

If this is really a four star hotel, I'm shocked. Upon asking for the air conditioning to be fixed, I was told it wasn't working for most of the rooms. My last day I spoke with the GM on duty. She didn't seem too concerned about the lack of air conditioning.

We really enjoyed the hotel and the staff had great recommendations on local places to visit. Very friendly and helpful!
