We checked in at approximately 4:30pm. While check-in was pleasant, the room was extremely cold on arrival. The thermostat was set to 25°C, yet after being out of the room for over three hours, the temperature increased by only around two degrees and remained uncomfortably cold throughout the night. Multiple in-room facilities were also faulty: The television was unusable due to a broken aerial connection and was not fixed despite maintenance attending. The hairdryer blew cold air only, leaving my wife to go to bed with wet hair in a cold room. Reception staff were informed on several occasions. We were advised nothing further could be done and were offered a free breakfast (already paid for) or a late checkout, neither of which addressed the issue. We were later told at checkout that portable heaters should have been offered, but this never happened. I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, and exposure to cold temperatures is a known trigger for my condition. As a result, I spent the night in significant pain and discomfort and was unable to rest properly. The standard of accommodation fell well below what is reasonable and far below what is advertised as a five-star property. Given the unresolved issues and the impact on my health, I am requesting a full refund for this stay. I look forward to your response and a prompt resolution.

The TV in the room didn't work so we informed reception. The receptionist said they were aware of the problem but it wouldn't be investigated again till the next day. The sink plug hole was dirty. When my wife tried cleaning it more dirt came up from the drain. During check in the receptionist showed us an information sheet which she said needed to be memorised as it couldn't be taken away. Consequently we had to phone reception for the wi fi password. We received an information sheet to our room by another receptionist so couldn't understand why the previous receptionist said we couldn't take away.

The location was great, just off the Royal Mile. Perfect for sightseeing and walking. The front desk staff were superb! Very friendly, and helpful with directions and recommendations. The cold buffet breakfast was great, with a very nice selection! The room was comfortable, but very small and basic for the price. Not much room for luggage, and TV had to be viewed from the bed.
