Disappointed Stay – Not the Tropical Oasis We ExpectedWe booked this property for a special birthday weekend with family, hoping for a relaxing retreat. While there were a few positives, the overall experience left much to be desired—especially considering the nearly 1,000 price tag for two nights.Pros include: spacious layout, convenient location with a park and restaurants close by, the Koi Pond and the owner was flexible in working with us. Cons were an overwhelming order of cigarette smoke (triggered an asthma attack), the outdoor areas were not safe due to splinters, surface dirt and nails that were sticking up. There were bugs inside and out (water bugs inside and yellowjackets and mosquitoes outside). Overall cleanliness was an issue because the house is not well maintained. We found mouse droppings and a mouse trap just inside the door/at the corner of the fridge. There was a lot of personal items around the house which gave Grandma’s house vibe but made us feel like we were intruding in someone’s home. Pictures of the house are outdated. While advertised as having one, trees fully blocked any potential water view.We were disappointed by the property’s condition and cleanliness standards. For the price, we expected a serene and safe retreat. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. Had alternate lodging been available, we would have left early. We recommend this rental undergo serious maintenance and a deep clean before hosting future guests.
