Comfort Inn Elko2.5 out of 5.0

I dropped in to the Elko comfort in unannounced with no prior reservation and in just a few minutes Dottie had taken care of everything and I was checked into my room. Such a relief. This town can book up so quickly and so many of the other hotels won't even talk to you without a reservation. But the staff here is polite, efficient and very good at what they do. Thanks guys. I'll be back.
Motel is much newer than the run down hotels nearer town. We checked several on the way in, and this one looked the best. Dottie at the front desk could not be more helpfull and a great attitude & smile. The bed was fabulous! The room layout is great with the sink & vanity in the room npt in the bathroom. Walk in showers are so much better than step in tubs, as baths ate only for young kids !!! 😎
We turned off the a/c, because it was noisy and the room was very quiet. One time in the middle of the night, we could hear a train horn in the distance. If we had left the fan on, it would have covered i[ the sound. In the morning, we could smell the bacon. It smelled wonderful, and tested wonderful. Typical breakfast: waffle maker, scrambled eggs, yoghurt and cereal. Bed was comfortable. Fridge had ice section in it, so we could chill down our blue ice.
I booked this hotel after reading many reviews. Check in was relatively easy. Room layout was not very good. The fridge and microwave are over by the window next to one of the beds. The vanity and sink are in the room, not the bathroom. That is common but the towels are in the vanity! Remember to bring a towel with you to shower or you will need to drip your way out to the room to get a towel. Internet was really slow. The walls are thin so I heard pretty much everyone who walked down the hallway, including some very loud kids. The mattress was good and I was able to get a good sleep. Breakfast had lots of choices and was quite good. The room is big but had 2 large stains on the carpet, a discolored patch of lower wall in the bathroom and some patching done on the ceiling but not repainted, Rate was too high for these issues,
Second time we stayed here. We like the nice rooms and enjoy the quiet nights. The motel is also conveniently located close to the interstate highway. The room cost $92 including taxes. Had another great night. Great breakfast was served too.
The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. Restaurants and casinos nearby. Internet connection was less that mediocre - had difficulty connecting. Convenient to Interstate 80. Sort of an oasis in the middle of Nevada. Breakfast is typical of Comfort Inn. Nice swimming pool.
Although it's nothing fancy, the Elko Comfort Inn is a clean and comfortable place to spend the night when passing through Nevada. The room was nicely updated with a good mattress and newer linens. We had a couple of small complaints. Upon check-in, Ashley made no mention of our Choice Hotels "gold" member status. Being frequent travelers, we are often given a complimentary bottle of water and/or snack item as an acknowledgement of the money we spend in Choice Hotels. Also, the full length mirror in the room was very dirty, the TV connection was intermittent, the shower head sprayed poorly, and there were only five tissues left in the box. Small items, but things we noticed.
Having spent most of the day on the road we pulled into Elko looking for somewhere to stay and was very pleasantly surprised to find this fairly new comfort inn. We were checked in by a lovely helpful young lady who pointed us in the direction of somewhere suitable to eat and enjoyed our nights stay there. The room was adequately large, clean and the bed comfortable and although the view out of the window was onto a vacant lot it did not spoil our stay. Following the inclusive breakfast the following morning we were checked out by the lovely Betsy who spent some time talking to us and giving us some pointers of where to visit as we continued our journey towards San Fran.
I have stayed at scores of Choice Hotels properties of varying levels of satisfaction and the poor management of this franchised unit takes the cake! We were given an ultimatum after 7 PM on the evening of our stay that we must quit parking our vehicle near the motel and move it off site by 8 AM the following morning to allow some contract work to be done there that required the parking area to be entirely vacated. The sites offered as alternate parking were at establishments on either side and involved walking up and down uneven slopes a considerable distance. Having a lot of luggage to tote made no difference to the inflexible order to leave the parking lot. We arose early and managed to get packed and out the door by 8:20 and there were no contract workers in sight, let alone ready to go! There were other equipment problems within and outside the motel that showed the management's lack of attention to guest's needs. While the staff were very attentive and helpful the poor condition of the facility and lack of consideration shown by the management destroyed the opportunity for the usually good to better ranking for units in this chain. We will be submitting formal action notices to Choice Hotels and the Franchisee B.J.C.R. LLC.
When we checked into this Comfort Inn in Elko Nevada, the General Manager Michelle Mota and other front desk attendant, Ashley, were both sweet as pie. It wasn't until we had a complaint with the extremely poor wifi that was so slow it was unusable for us. We conducted three internet speed tests evincing download and upload speeds of 0.85 and 0.73 respective, and it was unusable...Then they all circled the wagons and began to lie, deflect, pass the buck and then demonize me the customer. The General Manager Michelle Mota, who was not on the premises during this time, claimed that ALL the other guests were happy with the WIFI and that I was the only complainer. Of course, this is a "canard" ( unvarifiable, and intended to discredit me the "complainer" as being a liar). This was a crucial mistake by Michelle Mota and inapproprate of a GM in the hospitality business, obviously she and her staff have not been trained properly. I was told the following day by Dottie, the daytime front desk attendant, that they do not believe in the adage " the customer is always right". As a Diamond Elite Member of their hotel chain and Rewards Program, Choice Privileges with over 67 stays around the USA thus far this year as of 04/15/17, I was flabergasted and couldn't believe my ears. I politely asked them for an adjustment to my Folio for our unfavorable experience which in most hotels would be readily agreeable, but not here. As a retired full time traveler with my family I would never recommend this hotel due soley to this Phony, deflective, insincere, General Manager and her staff. There are literally over a dozen hotels within one mile of this Comfort Inn and I would definately choose one of them. It was our mistake to stop here and we will never do it again. As you will see, the GM Michelle Mota will reply to my review but it will be shallow and hollow and she will not step up and do the right thing and adjust our Folio, but she will make excuses and blame me the customer! And I have seen Michelle's phony, rehearsed, deflective, and insincere replies to other unfavorable reviews she has received.
