I had previously stayed at the Extended Stay in Southfield which I would rate a 3. So I was skeptical to say the least. However, this extended stay was awesome. The room was cleaned and the staff was outstanding. Nicole the front desk clerk went above and beyond for me. She is a rockstar!! If your flying into Detroit you have to stay here. I will be back....
Do yourselves a favor, and skip this place. When one pays 100/night, one expects to get a better internet speed. Basically the only thing I could do was check email. Anything else requiring higher speeds, required you to purchase an additional amount. The television programming was just a basic subscription. Not a whole lot of selection. The worst part of my experience was the "Grab n Go" breakfast. It was absolutely disgusting. No fresh fruit, No WATER, Nothing appetizing. All they had was coffee, prepackaged muffins and cereal bars.
The front desk agent was nice, the first room was in terrible shape. She let me switch rooms, and the second one was better. The hotel has a deal with a trucking company, so they get preferential treatment, which is fine, I just don't think it should be part of a Priceline deal list.
I stayed at this hotel the night before a flight from the airport the next day. I was highly disappointed with many aspects of this hotel. Firstly, they advertised that they had an airport shuttle. Well, they didn't, and when I called to get picked up from the airport they actually told me to take another hotels shuttle and walk. If it isnt enough that they don't have a service that was promised, they want to push that responsibility on another hotel and then expect me, a female traveling alone, to walk around Romulus, by myself, in the middle of the night. That should have been my first clue. So I ask if I can get a refund so I can book with a hotel who actually has the amenities they promise. Of course, they wouldn't cancel my reservation. Wow! So after 45 minutes going back and forth with the person at the front desk, I finally get on the Marriott van and proceeded to get a lecture from the driver about the extended stay always pushing it's guests to ride their van. Seems like they have this issue a lot. Then, after all of this, I get to the hotel and the place smells moldy and old and is in serious need of renovations. The beds are uncomfortable and the rooms are old and shabby. The staff seem clueless on how to give any sort of customer service. And after all of this, they refuse to give me a late checkout. So to get back to the airport I had to walk back to the Marriott and take their van back. Will never stay at this property again. Very disappointing!
I hate to give a bad review (this is my first)- but it was bad! The room was half the size as pictured on the advertisement on the net, the fridge and air/heat register was so loud as was the bathroom fan- something was loose inside of it! We would honestly never stay in this hotel again.
This was my second stay here after a previous three week visit. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and my room is very comfortable. I face I-94 and the airport, but the room is pretty quiet. And when the HVAC unit fan comes on it makes a nice white noise that blocks sound. Housekeeping does the room once a week, but you can arrange for more. Almost like home except no wife, munchkins, pets or "honey-do" projects.
Only negative is the grab and go breakfast in the front lobby. Oatmeal, muffins, and granola bars were the only thing offered. Coffee round the clock was a plus. Hot tea and hot chocolate also available.
We stayed 1 night at the beginning of a road trip. We arrived around 11:30pm and were greated by Audrey. She was super friendly and got us checked in fast. The room was very clean and quite roomy. Bed was comfortable. Despite being at the back next to the interstate, there was very little traffic noise. At checkout, staff asked us if there was anything else they could have done to make our stay better....really, no.... Everything was awesome! Would stay again!
Bathroom & Kitchen weren't cleaned thoroughly. Ceiling light/fan not operational, front desk didn't notify maintenance when they said they would. Window open & unlocked on ground floor at check in. Would not recommend this hotel.
It a long week but I was comfortable and welcomed, for my stay in Detroit. I had no complaints and Know I will stay again. Staff was friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. No drama while I was there.
