The original room I was placed in was nothing like the displayed room on the website. I spoke to the front desk. She changed rooms for me however, the second room toilet was dirty. I also did not like the fact that there was no parking available. I had to park almost on the grass. The front desk lady that checked me in was very nice.

The elevator was broke. They put a 94 year old in the third floor and staff wouldn’t help her we had to. Breakfast looked all rotten and nothing cooked just cereal bagels and yogurt. Booked for 4 people and only two towels I. The room called for more and had to go get my own

I had a very disappointing stay at the Wingate by Wyndham Detroit Metro Airport. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that the hotel is poorly maintained. The lobby furniture looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The elevator was falling apart—broken floor tiles, a loose control panel, and it was out of service for at least two of the five days I stayed. The hallway carpets were extremely dirty, and the rooms weren’t much better. The bathrooms were tiny and in bad condition, and the pillows were some of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever used. The TV looked like it was from the 90s, with poor picture quality and static. Two of the lamps in my room didn’t even turn on. If you want housekeeping, you have to request it—and even then, it took two full days and a complaint to the manager before my room was cleaned. The only positive is the location—it’s very close to the airport. But beyond that, this hotel falls far below expectations and needs serious improvements.

If rating solely on the front desk staff, who were pleasant, always helpful and accommodating, also on the shuttle service and convenience of the rental car return, I would rate it higher, but the hotel needs some upgrades; re-glazing of bathtubs, new bed linen, bathroom plumbing (some work better than others), replace or vacuum the hallway carpet, and add more choices at breakfast, even a variety of bagels would be nice. Wingate would be my 3rd choice because of the wonderful staff, but not my 1st the next time my family and I return to Detroit.

The toilet in my room was not working properly and the shower was stuck in the up position so a bath would not have been possible. It was late when I checked in and I was tired so I did not notify staff until checkout. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet.
