I had a long, stressful and eventful day by the time I got to the hotel around 9 PM last week. Logan was working the desk and took care of me. He made me feel at home. The rooms are nice and spacious and the only reason I wouldn't given them 5 stars is my room had some highly visible worn and wear signs: broken shade pull, worn furniture and a thermostat which seemed 'possessed'. It is a good choice on a quiet end of Clark Street.
I stayed here because the price was very reasonable and I was billing back to a client. The location was also exactly what I was looking for. I am a platinum Marriott member and stay in hotels over 100 times a year, so I have seen my fair share. My room in this one was a bit on the tattered side. The room was clean and well appointed but the couch had rips and a hole in it and the sitting bench was all marked up with something (not sure what). Generally not what I expect from Marriott. The breakfast was also very mediocre, the eggs were not the best quality. Other than that, the service team was friendly and the fitness room had what I needed (free weights).
Most Fairfield's are the same; once they get some age on them the rooms begin to fall apart. It wasn't bad but the towels are low-budget and the carpet needs replacing. If you are mildly picky about your hotels, then I'd suggest staying at the SpringHill across the street.
GOod location, clean hotel, very accessible for walking to local restaurants and bars. Provided an adequate buffet breakfast. Rooms were decent and spacious. good sized parking lot as well. Thanks for a good stay
We had not stayed at a Fairfield Inn during our trip. We were looking for hotels that did not accept pets because my husband is very allergic to pet dander. We found Fairfield and what a pleasant surprise! The hotel is moderately priced and luxuriously furnished. Their multi-choice breakfast is included and was delicious! We stayed at this franchise three times on our return trip! This may be our new "go to" hotel!! The staff and amenities are all great!
I did not have a good stay here. I stayed here for almost a month for work. My room was located on the first floor right next to the side door and highway 70. I either heard the highway or the side door constantly opening and closing. I was located right next to a utility room as well so there was a low buzzing noise constantly going. Due to this I had to keep the air conditioning running to help drown out the sounds. Then there was the musty mildew smell that greeted me every time I walked in door. The first 3 days there I had a migraine that I was sure was brought on just because of the smell. I had to go to Target to buy an oil diffuser to help with the smell. There was a refrigerator but no microwave. I went to go use my Amazon Firestick in the TV one night and found another one already there. I took it to the front desk and the guy did not come off as professional as he should have been. He was over hanging out in the breakfast area socializing and it was like I interrupted him. He didn't seem to care that I found this but then got all shady like asking me how they work as if he was going to keep it for himself. The housekeeping staff ignored my do not disturb sign after 2 days and cleaned my room. I had to go tell the front desk to not have housekeeping come for the rest of my stay unless I request it. They ignored my request. The desk chair was horrible to sit in. The only good thing I can say is that the sheets were clean and they had a good breakfast. There are other choices to sleep in Columbia I would avoid this place if you can.
Had a business trip to Columbia. Stayed at the Fairfield. This property seems pretty new. Check in on the Marriott App is terrific. These new apps totally spoil me. Such a groan now when arriving to a long line to check in. So even the quick interaction at the desk, everyone was very welcoming, confident and efficient. Room was well laid out, clean. Breakfast was par for a middle class hotel. The attendant noticed my glass of orange juice, which I didn't and took it away from me telling I couldn't drink that as it must have been at the end of the cartridge. She'd change it right now. She did and brought me a fresh one. Very appreciated. Totally pleasant and enjoyable after doing the hurry up rush and wait, get through security, rush to the gate, sit and wait, jump up as soon as you land cause you have to slip back two isles to get your carry on out of overhead behind you cause people behind you dumped their stuff over your head. Grab the shuttle bus to car rental, Get your car and then drive an hour and a half to your destination. So after that being treated so welcoming is appreciated. I would definitely stay here again.
This Marriott is disappointing. There is really not one piece of furniture in the room that is comfortable, the desk chair is from the '50's tilts backwards immediately and hits smack in the middle of your back, no working in this room. The side chair is equally uncomfortable and shoved next to the side table of the second bed. No relaxing in this chair. The beds are not great, not terrible, but not great, it's the pillows that will really ruin your nights. Worn out and floppy or hard as a rock. The dresser is very low that thenTV sits on so if you are laying in bed, you won't be seeing the TV. To top all of this off, my room is damp and smells like mildew. I contacted but the front desk about it and was told they had no other rooms to move me too, but could send up housekeeping... to do what? Spray deodorizer? I have been told by others that their rooms are just as bad. Go elsewhere, this place needs lots of love and serious updating.
Overnight stay on a long road trip. Reasonably priced, good breakfast, clean, good helpful staff (great dinner recommendation!), pool was clean & nice. Room was suitable, clean, A/C worked quietly & well. No issues, worth stopping on a road trip.
Just a one night stay with a family of four. The pool was great, though the water was cooler than expected. The room was clean as was the bathroom. It is near the interstate and combined to get on and off with plenty of dining options within walking distance.
