This was my first time staying at this property in Chicago, and I booked a 1-bedroom suite for my mother’s birthday $1,300 for 3 nights. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The hotel itself is not worth the price you’re truly paying for the location only. Although it’s been recently renovated, the updates make it feel more like a remodeled motel than a high-end hotel. My bathroom was dirty upon arrival, and when I went downstairs to request a room change, I was told the hotel was fully booked. They offered to send someone to clean it right away but no one ever showed up. Breakfast was extremely basic: eggs, bacon (or sausage on some days), potatoes, bagels, toast, cereal, and yogurt. For the price, I expected a much higher quality experience and variety. While the hotel staff was friendly, that was really the only positive part of my stay. I’m very disappointed that I paid so much for what felt like a 2–3 star hotel experience

Terrible experience. When we arrived at our room, the toilet was spraying water out of the bowl onto the seat and the floor. We called the front desk to have them come fix it. A guy came and worked on it. As soon as he left the room, it sprayed again. We called back and when the guy came back to the room, he blamed us for messing with the toilet, which we hadn't even used. As he was leaving the room, he informed us that he wanted to quit, but the hotel wouldn't let him. After working on it a second time, the toilet continued to spray. We called the front desk a third time and the guy got on the phone and started yelling at my wife. The hotel refused to give us a new room. We had to deal with this issue the entire time we were there. When we contacted Sonesta, they refused to offer any type of a refund on the room. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. The customer service was horrible and there was absolutely no hospitality. Our ice maker didn't work, and there are no ice machines in this hotel. Additionally, there was no bedding provided for the pull out sofa, even though we informed them that our kids would be staying with us. After requesting the bedding, it took 45 minutes and a phone call to the front desk to get them delivered to our room. While this hotel is in a great location, and overall is a nice hotel, the customer service is awful!

This property is a good one. You are just a couple blocks from the lake & just under a mile from Navy Pier. The 1 bedroom suite was excellent for our family of 2 adults & a teenager. We liked having a small kitchen too. There are a couple things to be aware of: 1. Upon arrival they take a deposit of $100 per night which you won’t get back until 5 to 10 days after your stay. 2. The elevators are small & require a keycard. I would stay there again, but I’d put the nightly credit card hold on a credit card & not my debit card.

Very nice property in a nice neighborhood. Only con was the elevators, only 2 in the building with stairs only having access to outside and not downstairs. Breakfast rush is often a long wait for an available elevator. Otherwise excellent locations and stay

Great room; some drawbacks

We decided to introduce our teenage grandson to Chicago, so either needed two rooms, or a different arrangement that would allow everyone privacy. The Sonesta fulfilled that in spades. We had a huge room with a bedroom, a big living room, a kitchen area, plenty of closet space and 750 ft.², in a very good location on the Miracle Mile and with breakfast thrown in, and topped off by a price market three cheaper than anything else around. All good so far so there has to be a couple of catches. First was the elevator situation. This obviously had been an apartment building before becoming a hotel, and perhaps two elevators was adequate for a building with apartment, but not really so for a 19 story hotel with many guests, many of them had kids with them. Our room was on the sixth floor and by the time a downward going elevator would actually have room, we could be waiting 20 minutes at times. A better philosophy, depending on the time of the day was to take the elevator Up and write it to the roof, then write it all the way down. (this happened about 25% of the time). We also don’t mind walking, but after walking down six flights of stairs, having tired of waiting for a down elevator, somewhat bizarrely, there are no stairs that go to the lobby at all, and when you get to the bottom or confronted by a door that says an alarm will go off, so we are forced to go back upand wait even longer for a down elevator. Check with the front desk, we were told that that indeed was the case –

The room was spacious and clean when we arrived, the neighborhood very nice, and the desk staff pleasant and efficient. However, there was no cleaning - or even the emptying of trash - at any point during our stay. Even a request for more toilet paper was ignored and required a visit to the desk. I also did not expect to be required to make up the sofa bed myself.

Rge front desk staff provided excellent customer service. Amd thank you for coffee available 24/7 at door! The bed was amazing! Bathroom was very roomy. Parking that's cheaper than Valet Parking at the hotel is waling distance down the street.

The hotel was clean and very nice. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was perfect for our family trip with a well equipped kitchen. The area around the hotel is beautiful! and its just a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan and a mile from Navy Pier. Its a very walkable neighborhood and close to public transportation. The BEST thing was how friendly and accomodating EVERY single staff member was. The valet parking was easy and quick. At breakfast, they made dairy free eggs to accomodate allergies for us. The front desk were very kind and helpful with a special request we had. This is the hotel we will stay in whenever we can get to Chicago again. It was wonderful for us!

Very clean, polite staff. Disappointed that there were no room checks during our stay. Need more coffee for example and some fresh towels. If I needed to ask for that I would have. Also we had 3 on our reservation, but no sheets, pillows or blankets for the pull out sofa. Had to call down at 12a when we returned from the concert to get some and it took 20min. They're understaffed at checkout, felt bad for them.

We had a spacious suite, and the rooms were clean and kitchen well equipped. The pull-out sofa missed the bed sheets, but once we asked the front desk it was promptly delivered. Overall, the service was great, and the location is superb. It was bit noisy with the dog barking next door... but manageable. The only complaint is that the breakfast offered had very limited selection and the food, i.e. eggs wasn't hot.... We would definitely stay there again
