Lovely property in a quiet area. The owners are available and friendly but aren't hovering. Breakfast is a well- appointed do-it yourself affair. We hope to be back.

My room did NOT have a smoke alarm. It had been taken down and not replaced!!! I sent a note to the owners and was ignored.

Clean bright modern roomy. Excellent decor and style. Coffee was ready made each morning and a wide selection of food for breakfast. Location and price was a big value for me. Will definitely come back here and highly recommend.

Great location for us visiting our son and his girlfriend who live a few blocks away. Love the Andersonville area! Loved this “not your typical B&B” - a wonderful property! Our go to place to stay in Chicago!

It's got location! Stay here if you enjoy walking on quiet city neighborhood streets. Food, L Train and beach are all close by. Free parking was easy and we loved the kitchen!

Nice quiet neighborhood, and super easy Uber ride to Wrigley Field. This B&B is very private/ serve yourself and we loved it! Room #4 has a really nice patio. Thank you for the lovely stay. We will be back.

Nice little B&B. Not too far from downtown. Good choice of breakfast items.

My friend and I stayed here when we saw a show at Wrigley field. It was perfect because we were away from the wrigleyville madness but only an 8 minute walk to the redline which took us right to the show. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and cheerful! The bed was comfortable and there was tasty treats in the kitchen. The whole place was adorable. I’d definitely stay here again!

This felt like staying at a hip friend's apartment without having to be "on" for anybody. In a former speakeasy across from a beautiful park in a quiet neighborhood, and a short stroll from Whole Foods. The kitchen was well-stocked, the living room was spacious, with a table for eating, wonderfully modern decor, and a bay window overlooking the park. The deck and courtyard were stunning, full of Japanese maples and plants, private and relaxing.

This is a nice place. I've stayed there a few times for a total of about 7 nights. A full kitchen available with a lot of breakfast options. My only complaint is with other guests. Noise travels too well here, and two of the nights I've stayed there other guests have hung out in the kitchen having a conversation, once at about 4 in the morning and recently at midnight. Both times I was trying to sleep but could easily hear their conversation. So, on one hand, I can recommend this place, but I'm not sure I'll stay here again.

I used to live in Edgewater, so the location was great for me. A short walk to the EL. Nice to find an affordable place in the city instead of having to be out in the suburbs, especially since it was better than any hotel at that price - plenty of breakfast options, I was able to park in the street out front without any issues. The internet connection was sometimes weak - I kept getting disconnected, I would have turned down the A/C a bit if I had control of it, and other quests conversing over breakfast in the kitchen at 4 am one morning woke me up, but overall it was very nice and I'll hope to find it available in the future.

Nice place to stay overnight before Big Shoulders swim

5863 is unique and quirky. The room was nice but next time I'll book a room with a king size bed. The guests were lovely. We wouldn't have seen the owner if we had nor forgotten the front door code. He really didn't interact unless approached. Breakfast area was nice and outdoor deck and patio were excellent. We will stay again and recommend to friends.

We had the City of Chicago Fire Marshall Come out during inspection and he stated that all the smoke alarms in all the rooms are not necessary.. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors are fine if they are only 500 Feet away from each other. He said it was fine to get rid of a few so guest would not be bothered with having alarm issues.
