We booked a hotel room to stay at the Windtower Inn and Suites for a wedding we were attending On the day we were due to arrive we called in for an early check-in to be told that our room had been cancelled that same morning by Amoma. We got 0 refund !!!!! To make matters worse the Windtower only had suites available for double the price. This seemed very unfair and while likely true our original $179 room ( with no refund to us ) we got charged an additional $324 to book a suite that was way more than we needed This totally is a scam and fraud on the part of Amoma So we are out $179 plus $324!!! We loved Beth at Windtower for helping us find a room but feel the huge price differential was slight gouging when a person was already charged Is there anyone at Trip Advisor who will help us ??
We stayed recently and the rooms were filthy. The glass around the balcony looks like it has never had a cleaning. The floors were so filthy my daughter's white socks were black. We slid the coffee table over and it was unbelievably dirty underneath. There was popcorn twists, a post it note and a gross amount of hair and lint. Basically you want to wear your shoes or slippers the whole time inside. The worst problem occurred as soon as we arrived. We had a 2 bedroom booked for 2 or 3 days. The first time we went pee and flushed it, water started rimming dangerously close to the top. We left it and over an hour or so we went in and the water level had gone down a bit so we thought it was ok. No it wasn't. Toilet now overflowing with a pee, we called front desk, a lady came down with a plunger, she plunged the toilet a few times and said the whole weekend a lot of the toilets were overflowing. She plunged about 4 times and then left and said it should be fine. IT WAS NOT FINE. The whole weekend that toilet was NOT usable. The whole reason we booked a 2 bedroom is so that we could all have our respectable space and not intrude in each others bathroom so we had to use the second bedrooms toilet. Kind of embarrassing when someone needs to do a number 2. Staff doesn't seem to know what's going on. The complimentary breakfast has the basics and nothing really appetizing. I would never stay here again just due to the complete filth of the hotel.
A few of the "low-lites" of our stay include: 1) No toilet paper in room. Literally not even an empty roll on the spool. Nothing. I had to ask for toilet paper at the front desk. 2) The dishwasher was not unloaded (but dishes were clean) and I'm not sure the room was cleaned very well since there were noticeable large crumbs on the table in the tv room. We actually didn't get room service on day #2 since we didn't see any point- the room wasn't overly clean to begin with... we figured there was no point. 3) The white bedding comforter had a large yellow stain on it. See the picture. Would have checked out for night #2 (after I noticed) but room was pre-paid. Had to sleep with no comforter. 4) No air conditioning- pathetic fan in room to plug in. 5) The whole reason I booked here is because we used to stay here in the past and we enjoyed the breakfast. The breakfast is a huge disappointment now. I watched the girl taking care of restocking breakfast items pick a stray fruit loop off the table and open the lid to put it back in the dispenser. Very unsanitary. Just think of that when you are eating your breakfast... 6) When I checked out nobody asked me about my stay. Clearly they don't care and my guess is they are aware of their service and room conditions. I will not be back. I wish I had booked elsewhere. Not worth the price paid.... not even close. We have stayed here in the past and loved it but hotel is very different now (BREAKFAST IS TERRIBLE)... How things have changed.
The last time I stayed in accommodation like this was forty years ago. A hostel. This is not a hostel, but loosely called a hotel. The room in which I stayed had numerous problems. 1 wardrobe without doors 2 no air conditioning 3 holes in insect screening 4 broken handle on window opener 5 cockroaches in bathroom 6 dusty room 7 no restaurant 8 breakfast facilities extremely poor PAPER CUPS AND PLATES 9 rooms are not cleaned daily unless requested
We stayed here as part of our return trip after the Rocky Mountaineer and what a huge disappointment it turned out to be.Our room was very small, there was no air conditioning, the breakfast was ordinary as it doesnt have a kitchen,we put our towels out to be changed but they didnt bother so we had to do a late night raid and get our own.Avoid this place
I'm writing this on behalf of our entire family that arranged for a bulk booking for a family wedding. We had family travel from far away to attend a wedding being held at the nearby Cornerstone Theatre, and had negotiated a group rate for attendees. Here are some of the complaints: 1) No air conditioning. 2) Dingy furniture and suites. 3) Dirty sheets in the honeymoon suite. 4) No mattress cover on the mattress in the honeymoon suite. 5) King beds that were actually two twins put together. Would not recommend anyone staying here. At all. At any price.
Booked room with 1 king bed and Got room with 2 twin bed put together with YES a hole in the middle .NOT WHAT I ORDERED OR PAID FOR,Still fighting with hotel and no luck yet .I will keep fighting with them till i get some results Robert=Ruth
We booked the Windtower back in January for our wedding in July. I thought with the amount that they were charging, it would be a decent hotel. On their website they advertised free parking and that the hotel had air conditioning. Parking was $10.00 a night and our air conditioning was two fans in our room. All of which you do not find out until you arrive. Check in was at 4 and when we went to check in, our room still wasn't ready. I also got charged $80.00 above what was agreed upon in the original booking in January. I spoke to a worker yesterday and he claimed it was the damage deposit of $60.00 they added which I will see back on my card... but what happened to the other $20.00. Anyways, if you're going to spend this much money on a hotel, I suggest going somewhere else and get your moneys worth or even spend the little extra- it will be worth it.
We booked our two night stay for our daughter’s wedding. Many of our wedding guests were coming from out of town and booked months in advance. When we went to check in, we had never seen such poor management and disorganization. Our room was to be booked next to our elderly mother, but we were told they couldn’t accommodate, even though this was apparently no problem when we booked months in advance. She was a long way away. Some of the guests also had booked rooms to be together or at least close to have their children closer only to find they were not even on the same floor. We were charged double what our confirmation said. I was told at one point it was because they gave us a “complimentary” upgrade. Then I was asked if I minded being charged more? Why yes, of course I mind. We had some of our guests that asked to have more sheets for the bed as the ones on the bed they had didn’t fit the bed and were dirty. Rooms were not ready even at 5:30pm and many guests had travel very long distances and just wanted to get in their room. At one point a conversation was over heard where it seemed the hotel had run out of toilet paper! Also, one staff at the front desk said he was quitting because the job was too stressful. We were told the hotel had new staff so that’s why it was not very organized and why we got charged more than our confirmations. This hotel needs some serious upgrading like new beds and air conditioning, not dirty fans. We will not be staying here again and definitely do not recommend this hotel.
We were attending a family wedding in Canmore and the bride and groom reserved a block of rooms for their guests at the Windtower. The reception was being held across the street at The Cornerstone Theatre. Since I was travelling with my husband and teenage children, we required a room with enough sleeping accommodations. I was told when I made a reservation they did not have a room with 2 queens and a roll away cot. They suggested 2 rooms, one with a queen bed and another with 2 twin beds. The price increased substantially since now I require 2 rooms. I requested we needed to be on the same floor or in close proximity. When we arrived, our rooms were on different floors and different areas of the hotel. (opposite towers). I insisted it was not acceptable and the front desk attendent did not in any way try to change the rooms. After several attempts by myself, finally the groom was made aware of the situation and a change was made. My teenage children were moved across the hall from my room. The situation should have been rectified upon arrival and not when the groom stepped in. The hotel needs some renovations and updates. Our room was small, dingy and had an unpleasant odor. The only A/C in the hotel was in the hallway. The breakfast was unsatisfactory with rotten bananas being served. The location is great but the customer service is lacking.
