Sea life and nightlife thrive in Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens, Florida, is located in Tampa’s Hillsborough County. The African-themed amusement and animal park opened in 1959, and has been rescuing and rehabilitating injured and endangered animals ever since, as well as providing family entertainment and environmental education. Busch Gardens is within close proximity to Saint Petersburg and Clearwater Beach, the sports and entertainment venues of Tampa Bay, and the nightlife of Ybor City.

Things to see and do
Beaches

Busch Gardens hotels are the perfect home base from which to enjoy the warm turquoise water, gentle waves and sparkling white sand of the Gulf of Mexico. The shallow water and nearby restaurants, hotels and public facilities make Clearwater Beach a great spot for families to spend the day. Saint Petersburg Beach and Honeymoon Island are long stretches of soft sand set among small dunes and seagrass.

Zoos and aquariums

Situated along Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast, it's no surprise that the Busch Gardens area has a wide array of zoos and aquariums dedicated to nature and marine life. Located in Clearwater Beach, Clearwater Marine Aquarium is home to Winter the dolphin, depicted in the movie "Dolphin Tale”. The aquarium specializes in rescuing injured marine animals and, when possible, the animals are released back into the wild. If deemed unable to return to the wild, the animals become residents of the aquarium and help to educate visitors on the importance of marine conservation. Visitors can also take a water ferry ride across the bay to the museum.

Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo has been voted Best Zoo in the U.S. by Parents Magazine. Along with a variety of animal habitats—including wallaroos, leopards, elephants, African penguins and native Florida wildlife such as manatees, river otters, panthers, black bears and key deer—the zoo offers camps, classes, VIP tours, interactive exhibits, and special events to raise funds for wildlife awareness and conservation.

Museums

The Salvador Dali Museum in Saint Petersburg is an artistic structure of glass, steel and concrete. Permanent collections, traveling exhibits and special events give visitors a look into the surreal paintings, photography and sculptures of Dali.

Nightlife

Founded in 1886 as a center for cigar making, Tampa's Latin Quarter of Ybor City is the place to be for live music, dining, shopping and nightlife. Wine bars, Irish pubs, sports cafes, a brewery and a jazz house are just a few of the many eclectic dining and entertainment options available in Ybor City.
