Tampa is a popular destination for everyone who loves the warm weather, the outdoors, and fun theme parks and events. A big bonus are its nice people, variety of activities and the outstanding food. To be able to see and do everything the city has to offer, why not rent a car to get around on your own schedule?

What to See in Tampa

Florida is known for its theme and attraction parks and Tampa has enough of these to fill your days with fun! Adrenaline junkies could, for example, visit the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay attraction park, the Adventure Island water park or the Dinosaur World theme park. Animal lovers can choose between the Florida Aquarium, the Lowry Park Zoo, and the Big Cat Rescue. Are you more into art, science, or history? There are plenty of museums to peruse, such as the Museum of Science & Industry, the SS American Victory, and the Tampa Museum of Art. Sports fans can always visit Tampa Bay Times Forum or the Raymond James Stadium and could even catch a live game.

To enjoy the outdoors, Tampa also has its great advantages. Not for nothing was it ranked as one of the top outdoor cities in the United States of America. Outdoorsy people are right to visit Tampa. The Tampa Riverwalk, for example, is a pedestrian trail development following Hillsborough River. Besides that, the city of Tampa has over 160 beaches and parks, including the Hillborough River State Park.

Architecture buffs will love to drive around in Tampa as well. The city houses pretty spectacular places, several are even listed with the National Register of Historic Places. You could spend hours wandering through Ybor City District, but you cannot skip the Tampa Theater or the Sulphur Springs Water Tower. Other sights you cannot miss are the public mural painting called The Story Of Tampa, which is located in the lobby of the Tampa Municipal Office Building or the Bro Bowl, one of the last remains skate parks from the 1970’s and the first public skate park in Florida.

Who does not love to celebrate and have fun? Tampanians do too, so they hold several festivals and host many fairs. The Gasparilla Pirate Festival has been held for over 100 years (except during the World Wars). The festival celebrates the legend of a Spanish pirate captain, José Gaspar, and includes parades, a film festival, an arts festival, and a road race among others. Popular nightlife districts are Channelside, Ybor City, and SoHo. The areas in Seminole Heights, South Tampa, and Ybor are particularly known for their delicious restaurants.
