Holiday Inn Birmingham-Airport

Number of issues: 1) Room air conditioner worked poorly 2) The elevator system needs repairs. Stops at every floor on the way down. Nine floors. 3) Ate one night at the hotel restaurant and myself as well as others sitting at the bar saw roaches crawling on the counter. Told the bar tender and she just brushed it off. 4) Too many people hanging around the hotel that were not associated with the hotel.

There were No Knobs on the AC Unit, and we were hot all night. It was late when we checked in, and we were very tired, so we did not complain to anyone. To say the least it was a terrible stay, and won't go back there on future trips.

However, the hotel smells so badly, just like a floor painted but never opened.

Stayed overnight for quick service to airport and free shuttle. Lobby area is nice done. Beyond that in common areas, wires everywhere, half done projects to improve. Beyond the first floor looks like it hasn't had care in years. Carpet is well beyond its usefulness. Some furniture and beds are nice. Great water temp and pressure. Sirloin salad was nice. People friendly. Overall adequate, but overpriced for a night.

This is a pretty run down version of Holiday Inn. Rooms are small, maintenance is lacking, Wi-Fi didn't work, A/C in the first room didn't work at all. Gave me a new room, and the A/C was marginal. Because the A/C was not working properly, the room was pretty noisy. The area of town is marginal for security. There was a junk car with flat tires parked in the parking lot. It is close to the airport, though and close to the interstate. The restaurant area was getting new carpet, so it was not open for dinner. No other restaurants within walking distance.

Be prepared for old, dirty, and broken. You get what you pay for and only 5 mins from the airport.

The Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport is a good place to stay when you need to be at the airport the next morning for an early flight. It is a typical high volume airport hotel with the expected HI amenities and service.

Great place to stay clean, convenient, and well managed.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Expensive for only having to stay there for 7 hours.

All went well... No Issues at all... Would stay again

Good place to stay for one night. Clean room with comfortable bed.

Location was great. Room was ok. Restaurant was better than you might expect. Staff were really nice.

This is the perfect hotel if you need to be close to the airport. It can be noisy, as there are railroad tracks nearby. The air conditioner is noisy and can be annoying. The room is fine, however the bathrooms are in need of updating.

Decent hotel near the airport in Birmingham. The best part is the airport shuttle. The room was very clean. The breakfast could have used more fresh fruit. On the whole, this was a fine place to stay if you have an early flight from the Birmingham Airport.

Carrot Top in Vegas makes fun of that ubiquitous 'beam of light' that shines through the crack of the curtains in all motel rooms because the panels do not overlap. I was in such a room at this hotel bathed in the obnoxious glow of back alley street light. Also, the tub floor is about two inches higher than the bathroom floor, so stepping in the tub is an unexpected jolt. The bed as soft and I was tired, so I checked out fresh enough to mention all this to the management.

I stayed here due to the proximity to the airport and that I had an early flight out the next morning. When I checked in the people behind the counter were very miserable. No smile or how can I help. I checked in and went upstairs. Very dated hallways and a musty smell. I went into the room and it was generally clean but when you moved things it wasn't clean. The edges along the tub were dirty, there was what looked like urine beside the toilet, the ceiling tile was filthy in the bathroom and that same smell was there. It took me an hour an a half to get food in the restaurant

For a Holiday inn it was a poor hotel. It needed that extra touch that Holiday inns usually have. the satff were fine and helpful but the room tiny, cramped and not very comfortable. Bathroom shower was fabulous but the tub drained at a rate more like something from the 19th century. I stood in several inches of water every time I showered. The place needs a face lift and lower rates for what it is.

Best choice for safety/cleanliness/convenience near BHM airport among hotels in the "sketchy" neighborhood that immediately surrounds BHM. Train horns and sirens sounded pretty much every hour through the night -- that was out of control of the hotel, just that neighborhood. Staff was AMAZING and extremely accommodating. Wi-Fi was down for most of my stay and never came back.

I need to get to an event an hour north of Birmingham by 7:45am and got in at 10:30am the night before - this Holiday Inn was close to the airport, checked me right in, then was easy to jump on the highway and get to my event on time. Staff was pleasant and nice.

I enjoyed my room very much. The staff was very kind.I plan to return sometime this summer. I hope to stay there again.
