I stayed here for one night to attend a concert at the nearby JBCC Center. The hotel was clean and within walking distance to the convention center, which was key in my decision to stay at the hotel. I hate to leave negative reviews, but I was unhappy with the service I received. I ordered room service and they mentioned I had an hour wait. I said that was fine. They brought it up to my room an hour later without the entree (only with the dessert). I called the kitchen and they said they'd bring it right up, and it took them another 30-40 minutes. While they said they would make sure the whole meal was comped, I don't yet see it on my credit card statement. I will be calling in a few days if it doesn't show up. Everyone has an off day and that is ok. But I wouldn't be writing this negative review if the comped meal was back on my credit card. Now I feel like it was just lip service.

Beautiful hotel, clean comfortable rooms. Lots of lobby seating areas to relax. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance and a pub in house and 24 hour room service. Free shuttle to and from airports.

I am an entertainer tour coach driver staying at the Westin in Binghamton Alabama 11/7-11/9 2017. Today I asked a gentleman driving one of the Mercedes black shuttles if the shuttle would be able to get me to the hospital at Brentwood, 4.9 miles from the hotel. The black gentleman said no I was to use an Uber. When I returned back from the hospital the same gentleman was parked at the front door, a black woman was sitting on the bench outside and asked if she was going to the airport she was ordering an Uber, he said oh no! I’ll take you. The airport is further than the hospital. Was this a case of reverse racism? He didn’t want to even bother with me, and made sure he noticed he was taking care of this woman. Next; I was in bed because I have to be up at 2am to pickup the band performing at the BJCC this evening and twice, at two different times after 4pm, two different house keeping staff, banged and banged on my door when I had the sign hanging do not disturb. I called to the front desk and they verified I was checking out on the 9th, I also had a group rooming list clearly marked for my checkout on the 9th. Then the front desk calls me when I fall Asleep again, and said housekeeping wanted them to contact me because I have not checked out!! I again said Keya or Kia verified all this already. I am Not checking out!! Now the same house keeping I just yelled at have placed their carts against my room wall by my door banging and throwing things around. I am not at all happy being treated this way!! On my rooming list it clearly states room needs to be quiet for drivers. I need my rest to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely. If there is a situation this hotel will be held responsible. I have all events recorded and forwarded to my family and company officers. 1 hour and 30 minutes later the saga continues. They have been slamming doors and banging the rooms walls next to me. I’ve asked several times to please be courteous with no prevail!! Solt Room 742

this hotel was convenient as we were in town to see a concert and the venue was in walking distance (BJCC) Room was clean and nice and the amenities were ample. the room wasn't ready when we arrived (4pm) but we only had to wait 30min. While waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to grab a bite at the connecting restaurant right off the lobby called the Todd English P.U.B. we had a terrible experience. If i was Chef English i would clean house as the staff we encountered (3 servers) were all lacking in the customer service area. (that review to be posted) We had a great meal at the Southern Kitchen and Bar which is just a small walk away. The only other problem we encountered was with the Valet. It took an hour to get our vehicle. i think because they park them down the street somewhere and the traffic was really bad. (The valets themselves were very nice) Oh and the WIFI isnt free?! Didn't hotels stop charging for wifi like 10 years ago? this was disappointing. And the guy next door snored throughout the night and kept me up so the sound insulation isnt very good. When i mentioned my issues to the front desk in the morning, the agent showed empathy but offered no compensation. Overall, i expected much more for the price i paid.

This Westin Birmingham has new architecture and clean, well-kept rooms. Our breakfast at the adjacent and attached restaurant was delicious and perfectly cooked, and the service was friendly (one caveat: they didn't serve espresso, just regular coffee; however on the other side of the hotel there is also an attached coffee shop, but I didn't visit). The hotel is located on a mini, seemingly newly-built street with a couple of restaurants/bars walking distance. Check in and check out we're both efficient. Valet was easy and friendly. Room was clean and spacious enough to hold a decent-sized desk. Closet was large, there was a safe, a luggage stand, and a coffee maker. There was no bathtub in my room - just a nice-sized shower with good water pressure. There was a robe available (but no slippers). Products: "White Tea Aloe" scented soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bath gel. All were okay for one night (if not carrying these liquids while traveling would allow for no checked luggage, they are good enough), but if staying for more than one night for longer trips, I would tote sample sizes of my own shampoo and conditioner. When in Birmingham, reserve ahead for dinner at the Highlands, a James Bear Award winning restaurant! It will be worth the drive/taxi ride! My colleague and I agreed that it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Anywhere. Service was impeccable. This was a return visit to this restaurant, because we enjoyed it so much when we visited four years ago: It was just as amazing as we'd remembered. The hotel is also a short drive to two malls: (1) a higher-end strip mall, with an Athleta; Gus Mayer, a small multi-brand, creative mini department store; MAC Cosmetics; Tory Burch; Kate Spade; Bed Bath & Beyond, and Belk; and (2) another larger more mid-market mall anchored by Von Maur, JC Penny, Sears and Macy's with a very mid-market food court (though it was very clean with extraordinary service for a food court!). I would definitely stay at this Westin again when in the area. I left Birmingham with a light and happy feeling that I rarely get when in the midst of a grueling work trip during which cities and hotels change daily. People are just the right amount of FRIENDLY and NICE in Birmingham, without overdoing it. People also seemed to take pride in their work, whatever that work was, a quality that we otherwise seem to have lost as a nation: it was refreshing. I would happily return.

This hotel is well-located for access to areas around Birmingham, or if you are using it as a base for Tuscaloosa. The property itself is in average condition, with good layouts for the common areas and the guest rooms. The pool is fine, but nothing special. The coffee shop and the pub located at either ends of the lobby are very convenient. The cold towels and water at the entrance were a very nice touch. The downside is absolutely the service at this hotel. I booked a group of rooms, and the check-in process was very poor, with line-ups, and confusion. A few of our group members had issues with their rooms, including dirty towels, and trying to communicate this with the staff of the hotel was very challenging. Calls to the service desk were long, with varying outcomes. This hotel is fine, and it didn't see like there were very many options, but managing expectations will be important with this property. Overall, I was not impressed, and felt there was poor value for the amount that we paid.

The Hotel is centrally located which is one of the only reasons I picked it. The room was large and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. Some of the gym equipment was broken and needed some maintenance. Surprisingly, no one at the hotel noticed! There were very few dining options and the staff seemed unaware of the vegetarian options on their menu. I had to literally wait for over 20 minutes and ask three different waiting staff to recommend a veggie burger!!! There seemed to a staff shortage the time i was checking out of the hotel; no one was at the concierge desk. Now I had a couple of product samples of the products that we sell and i had gone out to do a market survey. After collecting the samples, I wanted to ship them out the day i was checking out. Now I asked the staff to assist and because they needed to be shipped overseas they insisted that I did this online and print out the labels to ship them out. I was happy to do that but do to a lack of time and my flight in the next three hours I insisted that they kept the samples with me and i would email them the shipping label to print out. They immediately declined stating that they would not be responsible or liable for losing any of it. I should point out that unfortunately because of a packed schedule and lack of time I could not buy the boxes to ship them out. Now I understand that they should not be held responsible for some samples and I even mentioned that I could give them a written note stating that they would not be held responsible if they could not send them out and if the samples were held up for some time. I asked them for an alternate solution and since there was no one at the concierge desk, the front desk team was assisting me. They proposed that I go to a UPS / Fedex store nearby. Now I know that in the Birmingham, AL area, most employees aren't trained to ship out goods overseas as this is not a regular request and due to a lack of time I asked if there was a store at the airport and the lady assisting me mentioned that there was. Now I asked her for the address or the exact location which she was not able to find. Of course, she was not a concierge employee. Now since these samples were very important to me, i reached the airport and unable to to find a UPS store, I had to throw out the samples which I actually paid 100's of dollars for as i had bought them at a local store and missed my flight and reached my destination two hours later. Now this just shows, anxiety, ignorance, training and a lack of willingness to assist guests and poor training on the part of the employees. These employees don't have the personality or the temperament to be in customer service! I will not stay here again and will not recommend to anyone I know.

Recently spent two nights here. First of all, I arrived via the FREE hotel shuttle from the airport! From the minute I arrived at The Westin, I knew it was going to be very special! The property is simply lovely! The reception staff were friendly, professional, warm and caring. I was in my room before I knew it! And it was lovely! the furnishings and décor were peaceful and calming. The view was magnificent! The bed was SO COMFORTABLE, including all the pillows! The wifi worked flawlessly. I was truly sorry I didn't have more time to spend at the rooftop pool. It was just lovely. The furnishings there were likewise lovely, comfortable, and just totally relaxing. I enjoyed room service, which arrived very quickly. I ate in the PUB twice - once for dinner, and once enjoying the lavish breakfast buffet. All staff that I interacted with were very friendly, helpful, caring and fun to be around! I hope I have a chance to return at least once more!

We were displaced from Miami Beach due to Hurricane Irma, and the staff at the Westin were all very welcoming and helpful to our family. I would definitely visit again. The dog treats for our pup were especially thoughtful.

Live on east coast of Florida and decided to evacuate on Tuesday 090517. Closest available hotel to Melbourne, Fl was the Westin in Birmingham, Al..Booked three nights to arrive on Friday 090817. This was a 600 mile drive. We left on Thursday night and drove 15 hrs arriving Friday at noon at the hotel. Checked in only to be told we did not have a reservation. I had a copy of my confirmation. We had no room and there was nothing available in the entire city of Birmingham. The manager was not concerned at all and offered no assistance even though we were guests who had traveled 15 hrs in traffic to find a place to stay. I booked this hotel through Expedia. The hotel manage told me my problem was with Expedia not them. No empathy whatsoever. I would never stay at this property and I would never use Expedia to book anything again.
