Have always wanted to try a Westin due to great reviews. My expectations were high and those weren't met when I arrived on property. The hotel was booked and my room type was honored. But, several issues with the room, especially involving the bathroom were disappointing. Firstly, there was significant mold in the stand-in shower. The front desk made housekeeping aware and that was dealt with. The dresser had a drawer that kept popping out. The engineering man couldn't have been any more professional (and, enjoyed talking to him). All of the issues I experienced should have been dealt with by proper daily maintenance of the property. Not a fan of the bedding, either. Normally, wouldn't be a major issue, except sleep was essential due to being in this area for a track competition. A major positive, however, is that this property has a great lobby area--outstanding, I would say. Despite that, would try to stay elsewhere next time. First mediocre review I've given on Tripadvisor, but truth is key.
No complaints here. The room was clean, comfortable and check in was quick with two large groups with conferences going at the same time. The elevators were quick with hardly any waiting. There are several good place to eat in safe walking distance or eat in the in house restaurant which is very good.
We traveled to Birmingham for one night's stay. Decided to stay at the Westin since it is relatively new. The room was very clean, the AC worked very well, the sheets extremely comfortable and the towels very very soft. Everyone from the valet to the check in staff were attentative. The bartender had plenty of patience while we decided on our beverage choice. We were somewhat frustrated with the results of using the shower. The shower head (rain shower) was not disappointing at all and the water temperature and force were great. But, since there is not really a shower door but only one piece of glass serving as protection nearest the shower head, water splattered all over the floor. We would not let this deter us from staying there again but noted it as something that could be attended to. The area was very nice to take a brisk walk around in the morning and surrounded by plenty of interesting restaurants.
My mom checked in yesterday morning only to find bed bugs immediately upon arrival. The Westin staff and their service representatives were neither apologetic nor accommodating. They treated the situation as if it were a joke.
From the time we pulled up to the door we felt like we were special! Everyone on the staff were friendly and met you with a smile! Rooms were clean and comfortable and housekeeping kept it that way the whole week. Now if Birmingham could just fix the roads getting there.
Stopped over for a night as part of a 10 day trip. While the location appears isolated from the approach it turns out there are several very good restaurants adjacent to the hotel in what looks to be a fairly new development. One spot accessible from the lobby had live music and seemed pretty cool (didn't make it in though). The check in was a breeze, SPG status was acknowledged, valet was great and the bed comfortable as usual. If I lived in Birmingham this would definately be my "staycation" spot.
From the moment you arrive until it was time to leave we felt like we were the only one at the hotel with supreme service. Valet: friendly and caring for your vehicle; Check-in: knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming; Room: Superb, Clean, well maintained, beds were extremely comfortable; Lobby Bar: Fun, friendly, ready to serve - Hope you get Bryan - He's the BEST!!
I had the pleasure of staying at the Westin for the Steelcity Jazzfest and it was a very pleasant surprise. I had never syayed at a Westin property before. The property decor had a modern touch to it,the colors were warm and the customer service was exquisite. Mr Brian Jones to care of me as if I were his family member. No matter how many questions I asked be it about the area, hotel,or the fest.he was very patient and knowledgeable. He took good care of myself and friend.I will definitely stay there again.
Very easy to get to every thing from this location. Walking distance to a variety of places to eat. The roof top pool is amazing and hot. The rooms are still in good shape and I loved the rain shower. We would stay at this location again.
Modern room with ample space. Friendly staff--when I couldn't log in in the lobby, they suggested going to my room and trying from there. If that didn't work, they offered free IT support. Walking distance to a handful of dining options. Parking garage a little nerve-wracking with sharp, narrow turns.
