My husband and I were evacuees from Sargent TX and were treated like family at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Wharton TX. In a time of hardship we found a "safe harbor." and can not say enough kind words of gratitude for the way Charlie Grant, the manager and his staff looked after us. In the midst of concern for our home we found a family. We had comfortable beds to sleep in, great breakfasts even though they were working with a smaller staff than usual due to evacuations. Anything we needed they were there to provide. We stayed there six days plus until the electricity went out and the hotel was possible going to close because of the rising Colorado River but even without electricity they stayed and took care of us as we checked out. Charlie is a great manager he is so friendly to everyone cares about his staff and made us feel at home immediately. Can't say enough about this wonderful hotel ! Room was nice size, clean, and comfy. Close to food and gas, and walmart. Area is pretty safe and clean. I experienced no issues with my stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Exceptionally clean, fantastic staff, great breakfast offering a variety of food items. Location is great, off interstate. Restaurants nearby. About an hour drive from Houston. Very sweet and quaint hotel. Staff members are bi-lingual

Overpriced hotel in the middle of nowhere. While we had been on the road for a little over a week, paying slightly around $120 per night. We had th privilege of paying over $160 for a night in the Holiday Inn Express. While it was somewhat new, there were no special accommodations. We checked in late and out early. It was nice and clean, convenient to the highway. Staff was friendly.

My Company ask for me to make reservations at this location, which I did online, then our work schedule changed, so I went online and cancelled. I checked my credit card statement to find I was charged for the 4 days I cancelled. I sent the Manager an email and his reply was my reservation was nonrefundable. WATCH OUT when you want to stay there. My Job requires lots of travel and no other Hotel has done this to me.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The rooms were large and clean. The beds were big and comfortable. The ground and parking were perfect. Loved there breakfast, they have a great assortment to accommodate varied taste. If I'm in the area again, I would highly recommend this hotel!

The Hotel was very nice but I had a bad experience. I asked for an hour extra time for checkout an was told "no". I was shocked. My wife wanted to visit her mother's grave in the morning then we wanted to freshen up before a funeral. We were told that they couldn't accommodate a change in checkout from 12 to 1. The world is changing. I hope it was just the one clerk, but he said it was the "new policy".

I always try my best to be fair when submitting a review and I'll make that attempt for this hotel. I just finished a 4 night stay and was greeted by a friendly desk clerk and provided a room even though I was earlier than normal check-in. The room was clean and comfortable with the exception of a small problem. On my second and 4th night there were cockroaches in my room. I did tell the front desk clerk about the issue after the first episode and the reaction was "Oh, Okay"....... I never received any feedback so I assume no steps were taken to resolve the issue. My final night had cockroaches in my room once again and upon check-out I told a different desk clerk about the roaches and how I previously had told another clerk about the issue 2 days earlier. This clerk looked shocked but I never received an apology from either of the desk clerks. In a nutshell, if my room didn't have cockroaches it would have been an acceptable stay.

This hotel is very typical for the brand and we had a good stay here. We had a standard king bedded room and it included a nice lounge chair and plenty of space. I liked the soft grey painted walls and the pop of color from the yellow ceramic lamp bases. The internet was decent enough at 6 MBps down. Our room was clean and all was in order with one exception - there was quite a bit of visible mold on the grout in the tub corner. The bed slept well and the HVAC unit worked properly. The room included a microwave, refrigerator and good size TV. There are two places to eat within a short walk - a Denny’s and a What A Burger which is convenient as there isn’t much else available nearby. Breakfast had everything you expect from this brand and they also had chocolate milk. Something else that we really liked was that they had several choices of yogurt - regular, diet and greek. So many hotels lately seem to think everyone wants diet (light) yogurt.

This hotel was great. The staff was great. The room were big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The fitness center was nice. This place was overall in great condition. The only thing I seen wrong was the shower wouldn't completely turn off so the water ran a little bit.
