Staff was kind, hotel was quiet and clean. Hot tub view was perfect. The Bistro service was not good at all, unfortunately with that view and the delicious food, we went twice and both servants were not nice. We booked specific table the night before and when we went to have brunch, it was full with other people. I mentioned that and the servant just said choose any other table that you like. I expect to hear that they are sorry that this happened and will be more nice. Even when we wanted to pay he left the machine and disappear, to the point that we could not wait more and left without even anybody say buy to us. It was weird that they mentioned that as the best Bistro in Banff, which could be if they would have better staff.

It is my first encounter to stay in a hotel without available toothpaste and toothbrush as I left ours preparing for my child's stuff. I was not able to warm his milk also because they don't have microwave. But the place is cheaper than other and very accessible.

Room for improvement, but I’d come back!

I was expecting to have a forest view, not a parking lot view. They prompted me to upgrade so many times that I was annoyed. The floors are wood in the room and so they should really provide slippers as it gets so dirty in winter from wearing your boots into the room, we had to use a towel as a mat. The hot tub is small and shallow, so luckily it wasn’t busy when we went. The building is very old and although it’s had work done and doesn’t feel old, it’s not sound proof. We could hear the people above us so well we could almost make out their conversations and hear every foot step. I think I would’ve been happier on the top floor. Other than that the location is lovely, I loved being out of the bustle of Banff. The staff very friendly. They didn’t provide enough coffee or creamer in the room for us but the cart was in the hallway in the morning and was easy to get what we needed. We stayed two nights and even with everything mentioned I’d go back.

Ahead of the curve

We can only hope that other hotels follow suit with the great attention to the sustainability of beautiful places like these - from healthy and sustainably dining options, compost, minimal unnecessary packing, and more. This is my go to for Banff, and any time I stay anywhere else I’m disappointed.

Beautiful mountain view and view of Banff. Excellent staff; restaurant and bar. Enjoyed the hot top. Great quiet hotel for adult couples. Easy access to Banff. Nice not to have to compete for parking spots like in Banff. Our second stay (actually my 3rd was 65 years ago. Iconic. We will be back!
