The hotel was easy to get to by public transportation from Amsterdam, and it was clean and pretty inside. Our room was clean, quiet, and pleasant. The beds were comfortable too. There is a restaurant onsite, which we ate dinner at, that had a nice waiter and good food. There is a frequent free shuttle to the/from the airport, but heading to the airport be sure to allow the full 20 minutes because Ibis Styles is one of three places the shuttle stops. We arrived during the afternoon and walked about 10 minutes to Amsterdam Forest, where we wandered the paths for an hour or so, seeing Highland cows, lots of birds, and a really beautiful environment.

The basic room was fine, but we had a frustrating experience during check-in. We arrived 12 minutes early, and the staff made us sit and wait until the exact check-in time, which seemed unreasonable since the rooms were ready. She simply said, “It’s not check-in time,” and that was it. Afterward, we went to eat because we hadn't had anything all day. The website stated that the restaurant opened at 4 PM, but when we arrived, they informed us it would only open at 6 PM. After waiting until 6 PM, we had to wait a long time just to be seated. I ordered soup, but it was bland, and the egg rolls were frozen in the middle. When I expressed my concern, they just put them back in the deep fryer, making them extremely oily. I ended up not eating them.

There were only two pillows and both of them were not meant for sleeping, and they were very small.The service was very slow there was only one person behind the desk, and there was a long line.There was a tissue box with only two tissues left. There should also be a bigger variety of breakfast.

Although we had a decent stay at this hotel both times we stayed there, there are a few things worth pointing out. The staff unfortunately has a somewhat cold touch to their demeanor. The 2nd time around, we found a dirty cup in our room and the bathroom seemed to have been cleaned in a rush. On December 31st when guest most likely would have liked to sit around the bar and socialize a bit......it was closed. I have never experienced this before at any hotel.

The room was not that clean, and the light over the sink did not work. The situation with the shuttle is very bad; it is an old bus that serves various different types of Ibis hotels and is not nearly big enough. The hotel itself if very nice: I appreciate the decor, the free coffee, the friendly staff, and the proximity to the Amsterdamse Bos. The prices are good and I will come back again provided the shuttle improves.

The bar offers a very good pizza! Receptionist to hotel on our arrival was a bit more casual than i would like in her customer service attitude. The soap dispensers in the room don't function well. The pump heads come off easily, and you have to put them back on in just the correct position for them to be able to function. None of them were hanging from their wall mounts as designed.

It is a bare bones airport hotel. Booked because of airport shuttle. Didn't have breakfast. Staff did their job but weren't overly welcoming. Price was right.
