The stay was great. It was very cheerful and lively. Staff was very attentive and paid attention to our requests. They really helped and seemed genuinely happy to be there and to speak with us. Overall stay was excellent.
Platinum Marriott member, will never book here again. Hotel has a terrible smell to it. Carpet in hallway on 3rd floor main building has some sort of black stain running down the center. Dirty towels found stuffed under the sink and in cupboard next to the desk. Housekeeping and General Manager are not doing a good job. Some sort of flying bugs in room, not flys. Some sticky substance on desk. This is absolutely the worst Marriott I have ever been in. Don't stay here!!!
After driving for 12 hours from Virginia, we (party of 6) arrived to this lovely place around 7:30pm where we were greeted by this less than lovely receptionist. Our room was still not ready even though check in time is noted as 3:00pm. Initially, we walked in and could smell a faint odor, something very musty. Not sure if the smell was masked with some sort of Febreze or the fact that we were just exhausted from a long day of traveling. However, we walked outside to grab our luggage and then it hit us on the return into our room… it was the smell of animal urine/wet dog. We couldn’t tell at the time if it was in the hallway or in our room. After stepping out quick for dinner and a few errands, we got back to the hotel the smell continued to get worse. By 3am, I awoke to the vile smell that had taken over our 2 bedroom suite (we believe in part was due to having the AC on which was circulating the smell). All of us felt ill from the pungent smell which seemed to be everywhere. The manager did move our room but sadly, we had to split up because there was no 2 bedroom suites available. We had to move to 2 studio rooms to accommodate all 6 of us. Rather annoying but, we needed to be somewhere in the morning and changing hotels was not an option. The initial smell in the new rooms seemed OK, but it progressively got worse by morning when we awoke. Instead of eating breakfast at the hotel, we ran out of that place immediately. The furniture in the rooms is worn out and the carpets are straight up dirty with stains everywhere. The tub was so gross and needed some cleaning. Overall, the hotel is gross and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Chipping paint. Stained carpets. Odor in the bedroom that was attempted to be masked by 60 degree AC full blast when we checked in. Kitchen did not have adequate number of plates, cups, or supplies to restock. A spoon in the draw has the appearance of having been used for heroin. Disgusted. And will never stay here again.
Quite possibly the worst maintained hotel we have checked into- so much so that we checked out that same evening. The sofa was ripped with the stuffing hanging out- amazing that house keeping would think it acceptable to leave it that way. The oven was dirty. Light switches were loose. Carpet was peeling away and the doors were battered and dirty. After complaining the sofa cushion was replaced and they sent someone to clean the oven. We requested an infant cot when we booked but were then told that this might not be available. When they finally located one it was filthy and unstable once assembled. No parent in their right mind would allow their child to sleep in something so unsafe. At that point we decided that this was not a suitable place to stay with our child so left despite having booked to stay for a week. Thankfully we were able to find another hotel (a different Marriott) which meant having to pay more as we were booking at short notice. Staff were apologetic and attempted to assist but frankly the room should not have been allowed to deteriorate to that extent. Marriott you need to urgently send someone in to assess the condition of your rooms and the safety of your infant cots.
Stayed here with 4 kids in July 2017. We would stay here again. LARGE space for reasonable price which is so nice when traveling with kids. Multiple rooms and multiple beds with a kitchen; friendly/helpful staff; pool; and quiet (our unit was in a corner). We'd driven several hours that day and it was so nice to have such a peaceful place to spend the night. Also - the area was just lovely.
I booked this room in order to attend my son's wedding. My room had a stove and fridge, a bathroom with a tub and shower and air conditioning. It was like having my own little apartment. There are many amenities on the grounds like laundry and outside pool. It features an elevator as well as stairs, just about all you would need. My most notable experience during my stay was when one of the staff (Akiem Houze) offered to go to the store to get me some ginger-ale pop because they didn't have any in stock. The Staff were very hospitable and friendly, a hard thing to find in most places. Just a great over all experience! I would highly recommend people booking at this facility and I would book it again myself if I ever were to venture here in the future.
This is the first time we ever stayed at a TownePlace Suites. We had a two bedroom suite that was smaller than the Residence Inn rooms we like the most, but it was clean and comfortable. What really stood out is this hotel's general manager, Lindsey. This woman makes a point to experience every position --- from breakfast staff to housekeeping to front desk. We first met Lindsey at breakfast when she sweetly greeted us and asked us if we needed anything. She did not even say she was the general manager! At our second breakfast, she remembered that we'd liked a vegetarian option offered at our first breakfast and went and heated some up for us. Lindsey also believes in cross training her staff -- her best housekeeper was training at the front desk when we were there. Each staff member we encountered was incredibly welcoming and friendly. BTW, The fitness room was ridiculously small. But I would highly recommend this hotel.
My sister and I stayed here while seeing Happy Together at the Palace. I loved the outdoor pool, and we were allowed to swim at the indoor pool at the hotel next door since the 2 hotels were owned by the same person. The free breakfast was good
I frequently stay at this property, and often see Lindsey, the GM, greeting guests and making sure the breakfast is running smoothly. On a recent visit, I asked her if they had a certain kind of cereal in the back, since I thought I remembered having it there before. They did not, but Lindsey went across the parking lot to the sister property, and brought me back not only a bowl for that morning, but a coffee cup full of it for later! That gesture made my day, and ensured I will return to this property every time I stay in Albany!
