Fly from Phoenix to Austin
Austin is not only the Texas state capital, but it has earned the reputation of being the Live Music Capital of the World. If you're making plans to fly from Phoenix to Austin, the centrally-located Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) airport is easily reached by several highways and offers plenty of parking. You could also use the Valley Metro Light Rail to reach your terminal. The flight takes two hours.
For those who love nature, visit Barton Springs Pool. Zilker Metropolitan Park and the nearby Zilker Botanical Garden are other options where you can enjoy flowers and lush, green scenery. Different museums to visit include the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, the Texas Memorial Museum and the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art.
Hints and tips
Your flight will bring you to Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) on the south-eastern end of town. The small highway 71 or highway 183 will lead you to any of the major attractions in town. The city hosts a huge music and film festival each year in March, South by Southwest (SXSW), and the Austin City Limits program also has an annual festival. Winters are occasionally well below freezing, but they usually stay in the 40-60 range. Summer evenings are in the 70s while daytimes are usually in the 90s. Austin isn't dry like Phoenix is, with humidity regularly around 60 percent.
