Milwaukee began as a major port on Lake Michigan. It has been a magnet for immigrants throughout its history. Now, it draws visitors from all over the country who seek first-class attractions and activities. You can fly from Los Angeles to Milwaukee via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in under four hours. Drive to LAX off Highway 1 or take a free shuttle to the airport from the Metro Green Line Aviation Station.
The jewel of Milwaukee's waterfront is the Milwaukee Art Museum. The museum expanded to add the internationally recognized Quadracci Pavilion. It's connected with the War Memorial, and it sits at the southern tip of Veteran s Park. The city s iconic brands for bikes and beer are also represented in the downtown area through the Pabst Family Mansion and the Harley Davidson Museum. The most beautiful structure in the city may be the Basilica of St. Josaphat on the city s south side. After the sun goes down, a favorite destination for dining and entertainment is the historic Third Ward in the heart of downtown.
When you fly from Los Angeles to Milwaukee, your final destination will be the General Mitchell International Airport (MKE). Express buses run from the airport to the downtown area. The onset of autumn brings everyone outside to enjoy the dry cool days with temperatures in the low 70s. This is when the city celebrates its German heritage with Oktoberfest in September.
